@MeepMeep - The Dev on this site is all volunteer using open source, so yes, you would be trusted. Anyone who wants to throw their hands into the Dev arena can donwload the source and start modding. They submit it to Kestas and if yhe likes it and thinks it is clean code, he may well add it to the site as he did with Alderian's code changes recently.

So seriously, if you code in PHP, have at it. Don't pseudocode stuff. The devs aren't a paid and focused team. They are hobbyists working this like any other open source project they love.

As Mapu so adeptly noticed at the beginning of the thread I'm still a new user, but I've run into a ton of cheating @ vDip as opposed to here. With that being said, it may be that I'm somewhat forced to play with untested users there, leading to a higher percentage of cheating in games that don't filter players out by number of completed phases.

Create a private game and a compelling reason for people to join. Only accept those with experience and you'll be fine. I'm a total noob at vdip and I still got some of the best players in the history of diplomacy to play with me. Ever hear of mapu? How about Achilles? Both in my first ever game at vdip. Not to mention GOD himself! Establish yourself as a reputable player on either site, and other reputable players will vouch for you (thanks for that BTW, mapu)

For the longest time, I have been avoiding online games like plague because of cheating. Only recently I reach enlightenment to play online game. I no longer worry too much about winning or losing. I focus on exercising my negotiation skills and have some smack talks to rattle jerks' cages. LoL. It has been satisfying till I noticed the disruptions from the cheats.

They causes the games to be paused and/or extending phase for replacement. There was a case recently, the cheater's country only has 2 SCs left while everyone has 6-8 SCs. Come on, who would want to take over a country with such disparity in force? Only another cheater who wants to help out the buddy.

We should not allowed countries to be taken over when its number of SC is far below the average number of SCs from the others nations.

I also notice this site has way more the number of nasty players who swear F-word like they came from a broken home or some kind of ghetto. I am going to put up with Vdip's site slowness and play small map there to check out their community.

It seems to me when you have a certain size, you attract the unwanted elements in the society. They thrive on abusing other, venting out their anger/hatred to feel good.

And they are loser, they don't even know it. For example, there is this guy Draugnar. He kept bragging about PhP programming and coding. Frankly speaking, I glanced through those PhP, Jsp for a few minutes and already figured out what's going on.

I have been a hard-core engineer who dealt with managing my own memory in C (malloc, deallocate memory, size of (variable) to get the right size). I worry about thread-safe in multi-threads in JAVA. As Draugnar said, even his mother can figure out PhP when I showed to him the code sent every messages to the clients, including his supposedly muted messages. So, let's be consistent ok? PhP and web programming are too easy and for people like Draugnar and his mom to program. No offense to the Dev who has been putting work into this site. Your talent is shown through the integration of all the pieces and the smoothness of the site, not just a chunk of codes.

I think small site like Vdip does not attract jerks like Draugnar or Neebaby nor Blankflag as well as many others.

In C, you always get a malloc of a size of the varible you use in your memory allocation. There has been a case where different compiler allocate different size (4 bytes instead of 2) for a same variable type. You cannot always assume an Int is always 2 bytes. There was a compiler which allocate 4 bytes for Int.

Doing the size of (Int) is not about writing portable code, it's about doing it right. I seriously don't think idiot like Draugnar will ever comprehend the philosophy behind what I am saying.

Wow MeepMeep, we all know you dislike Draugnar, but you don't have to insult everybody.

Anyways, what Mapu was saying was that on vdip, all of the players have a Reliability Rating. Basically a nmr hurts your rating a little and a cd hurts it a lot. You can increase your rating by making sure to input your orders, or taking over a cd in another game.

I've already read the vdiplomacy.net/reliability.php, the folks over there is moving toward the right direction. That's the site for me. I am abandoning this site:
1. There are too many low class people here.
2. The Vdip are doing the reliability rating, just what I need.

I have just finished the first game on Vdip site, and I finished second, bet 10 got out 21 . The battle started out 3 vs 2, then 3 vs 1. Yes, I fought against 3 and managed to kill off one to survive second place.

Long ago, in my first online game, there was one battle I fought against 30 (thirty) other, all at the same time. I still managed to defeat them all, killing 3-4 at a time in a long running series of small skirmishes.

There's no such thing as second place in this game meep

Alright, I survived that game with the second most number of SCs.
