What is this? (Ancient Med map)
This is probably gonna sound stupid but, what is that L shaped, light blue thing on the Ancient Med map? It can't be just my PC since it appears on my laptop as well.

This is not a team bashing or promoting thread, just a discussion about why we have assigned our selves with certain teams. I guess this can go for any sport really...

Edi Birsan End of Game Statement, please discuss:
I wanted to say thank you to all the players for this game and especially to Akroma who made it very interesting and entertaining for me. I think we all know that she had a won game here and elected not to take it. For me that is the sign of breaking through the status of a veteran into a higher field of play.

Why do people call Turkey the worst nation to be?
Why? Italy's WAY worse than Turkey to draw, if France goes all crazy and attack you from the start, good luck. If you try to lepanto, almost every Turkish player has seen that, and If you ally with Austria, they hardly ever trust you and as soon as you start dieing, they dive head first at you. Is there anybody here who actually LIKES to play Italy?

How many CDs are enough?
Personally, I think two CDs within the first 2 years, or 2 or more later on when one of the CDs is, for example, the largest power on the board.

What happens if?
If two armies try to enter an empty territory with equal support, they bounce. What happens to the occupying army if two armies try to enter an occupied territory, each having the same support, and the occupying army has no support at all?

So, post some cell pictures already ashleygirl, unsless of course your under 18. Don't want to get in trouble with the feds for looking at kiddie porn.

Ain't it interesting that 16 is legal age of consent in most states so long as you don't hold a position of authority over the other person, but taker a picture or make a movie while you are getting it on and you go to jail for kiddie porn. That's just f'ed up.

So, a game of strip Diplomacy anyone?
Parallelopiped (691 D)
16 May 10 UTC
How would you work it? Remove an item every time you're eliminated (could be slow) or maybe every time you lose a centre (but would you then put an item on every time you gained a centre and we'd end up with the winner wearing everyone else's wardrobe). Maybe the best plan would be to remove an item for every centre you gain - sort of reverse strip dip.
sqrg (304 D)
16 May 10 UTC
Remove a piece of clothing every time you want to send a message. When everyone's naked you just have gunboat game left.
Stukus (2126 D)
16 May 10 UTC
Hm, but what's to prevent someone from just never messaging? You should have to lose everything once you're eliminated, in order to discourage gunboating. Maybe give people like, 2 or 3 messages per article, too.
figlesquidge (2131 D)
16 May 10 UTC
@Draug - No, that's fair enough. I stupid decision could last a night, a photo will last forever.
@a.bxc - Ghost&I were discussing this recently (don't ask) and decided it should be every time you loose a supply centre you loose an item, but this was mainly based on the fact I could play up to the "I'm a maths nerd which means I'm horribly ill with skin peeling off" (not true at all btw, I love my sport) to persuade people they should give me their centres => I'd win :D

Doing the reverse version would make it VERY important to pick the right person to draw with ;)

ps: Dear Americans, you will notice two words for which the spelling will be unfamiliar. Maths is the correct shortening for mathematics, and sport is a term for physical activity.
Parallelopiped (691 D)
16 May 10 UTC
If maths is a shortening for mathematics then surely it should be math's.
The trouble with taking an item off every time you lose a supply centre is that Austria would only lose jumper and two shoes when she gets eliminated in 02. You need some kind of system to ensure mutually assured nudity.
P.S. I'm always very careful as to who I draw with, just in case.
figlesquidge (2131 D)
16 May 10 UTC
@stuk - How about the other way round, to encourage people to talk - you loose a layer for each phase you don't send messages to people.
Also, in strip Diplomacy, would you not always move to Brest? Yes its a bad pun, but come on - who could control the urge [to make such a terrible joke]
figlesquidge (2131 D)
16 May 10 UTC
@a.bxc (yes I'm going to use this name all the time, or at least until I forget/get bored):
Hmm, just make sure Austria's 'the other guy', the one you had to invite to make up the numbers?
Or perhaps you gain a layer for each SC but have to start at 3 :S Might be difficult to arrange that tho
Parallelopiped (691 D)
16 May 10 UTC
The trouble is getting the timing right. How about every time you have a unit dislodged you have to remove an item.
figlesquidge (2131 D)
16 May 10 UTC
Oooh, nice. Including flying Dutchmen to make things interesting.

More interesting would be shot diplomacy - and this I really want to play - each time you take an SC you down a shot. Result, the bigger you get the drunker you get & the worse your diplomacy.
Octavious (2701 D)
16 May 10 UTC
Been giving this a great deal of thought, as deserved by such weighty matters. I'd be inclined to assign the home supply centres to the more vital items of clothing (jeans, boxers, bra ect) and gaining any aditional supply centres will earn the player the right to socks, hats and their ilk. In some circumstances this may well leave players completely naked apart from said hat, but it all adds to the fun :)
Parallelopiped (691 D)

Ah, but my diplomatic skills improve as I get intoxicated as I'm unable to summon the stream of eloquent invective that tends to characterise my more sober exchanges.
figlesquidge (2131 D)
16 May 10 UTC
Haha, true. Until you get to the point of telling someone you dislike them & they're only there because your friend forced you to invite them :P

There is only one flaw, and that is the gender of the people participating in the discussion of the rules for this truly amazing variant. All of which are male and desperate for female interaction. This can only end badly, lets not kid ourselves here.
Parallelopiped (691 D)
16 May 10 UTC
Nonsense! The motto of the boy scouts is "be prepared". Think how disappointed you'd be if you found yourself in the company of six attractive young ladies minded to play some kind of strip strategy game and you'd not thought through the rules in advance.
podium (498 D)

I like the idea of drinking diplomacy would work fine till you where drunk and either wanted to get drunker and lost on purpose .Or everyone turned on the sober person to force him/her to drink and the shit would be all fucked up as we would just keep turning on the person who has'nt taken a drink for awhile could go on till where all loaded and fogot why we started in first place.
figlesquidge (2131 D)
16 May 10 UTC
@pod - So?
@MrP - See parallelopiped's point. Also, I don't think any of us truely intend to play strip diplomacy, but drinking diplomacy has a future

England should not open to the English Channel in gunboat
As France, considering I was thoroughly screwed because Germany and Italy moved unrelentingly against me, I decided to take England down with me. And this decision came totally because England opened to EC in gunboat.

I'm always looking for new music and I'm curious to know what you like. Musical tastes can tell a lot about a person I believe. So, post the name of the performer and the name of the song and try to include a video link so that we might hear it too. I'll start.

How to get more D's?
I am new to webdiplomacy, and I am playing quite a few games at the same time. The problem is that I do not feel that the games are moving fast enough, and I have only 1 D to play - meaning I am not able to join any more games.

Is there a way to borrow D's? Or even to play without D's?
