To Americans
Learn from this mistake. When given a chance to elect someone like Bernie again, do it. Don't go for the person that's a part of the establishment. It could've been Bernie getting ready for his victory speech now. You threw that chance away when you LET the establishment decide Bernie wouldn't win. Learn from this mistake so that you don't make it again. Better luck next time.

@yoyo, nice trolling! :)
No one with the sense to have 625D points would actually vote Johnson.

@Hauta

in terms of money, it's small. not in terms of labor.

40% of Mexico's exports are Vehicles and Electronic equipment, which are only more readily produced, because of CHEAP labor. Meanwhile, we try produce here in America, we are limited by minimum wage right off the bat, and our products increase in price tenfold.

but... the labor force is hit hard. 58 million in deficit does NOT show volume, and it doesn't show cost in keeping employees:

check the Employment Cost index. it's been on a STEADY rise, and while U^6 unemployment is at 10% (I am using U6 b/c we need to consider as broad of the work force as possible when looking at low-earning jobs), the united states is clearly not in a good place for businesses hiring employees.

every year it becomes fiscally less practical to expand for companies, which destroys domestic investment.

Hauta (1618 D(S))

what is U^6 unemployment. I am unfamiliar with that term. Does it account for discouraged workers plus underemployment or something? I have no doubt the hourly wage in America exceeds Mexico. (That's kinda what I've been saying above). However, I think a lot of the problem with American labor costs stems from legacy pension plans and more importantly, lack of nationalized healthcare. There is no reason why healthcare should be distributed via corporations. Corporations should be able to employ American workers without regard to healthcare coverage. It would put American workers on a more level playing field internationally.

Lol you got me! Jill Stein ALL DAY!!!!

In all seriousness if you haven't voted yet, please do. It doesn't matter who. I made a bet with HR that voter turnout will be higher than 53.5% so please help me win.

Also go Hillary I guess

U6 unemployment includes underemployment and discouraged workers. (People that have part time employment but looking for full time, and people no longer looking for work, doesn't have a job and quit looking for work because they are sad :(

@Hauta

1. I've already talked about universal healthcare and it's current unworkability in America in other threads, but i'd rather not go into that here.

2. corporations don't HAVE to offer health insurance... not sure where you're getting that

3. corporations that DO offer health benefits, use the money invested in them by employees to go out on the market and trade, then matches contributions. you don't just stick money in a retirement plan and these nice people decide "hey, i'll match your contributions too!" no, it's a way of investing for them

4. "U6 unemployment includes underemployment and discouraged workers. (People that have part time employment but looking for full time, and people no longer looking for work, doesn't have a job and quit looking for work because they are sad :("

thanks @yoyoyozo

@hauta

EDIT*

NOW they do have to offer health insurance, as is the employer's mandate. that came into effect in 2015: part of Obama's workings. any company with 50 or frequent employees.

THAT I do not like.

Polarization Self-Assessment Thread
Politics has changed A LOT in the past ten years ago. In this thread, I'd like to encourage you all to think about your past political views and how greatly you've polarized over time. What issues do you care about today vs then? Why? Any original ideas or do you rely on the media for cues? Interested to hear some real self-assessment here! :)

Viable Strategies for Austria
Whenever I play Austria I feel like I'm strategically forced to attack Turkey. I think that if Turkey isn't killed in the early game, he is basically forced based to go through Austria if he wants to reach the rest of the world. I know that this can't be the case, but I don't see the other strategies.
I would love to learn of some other options for Austria so I don't do the same thing every time I get it.
