Why are we talking about this, my point is, don't pick on little kids?

The Mongols took SOUTERN Russia, since when is the southern half of something the entire thing? Fuck guys, lets go take the southern hemisphere, we'll rule the world!

Well, at one time, the known world was pretty much ruled by Rome. Until the great explorations of the 15th century, the known world was Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Far and Middle East.

largeham, I dare say you probably know more about this than I do. It is not something I have studied recently, except for reading a few popular books, like Paul Kennedy's. But I think I am right when I say this, military technology changed very quickly through-out the 1930s, such that by the time war broke about most of the powers weapons were out-of-date, but Germany and Japan were more advanced, and the others had to catch up quickly.

"... by 1932, indeed the USSR was producing over 3,000 tanks and over 2,500 aircraft--fantastically more than any other country in the world".

That's because Tukhachevsky, much like his fellow POW from Ingolstadt Charles de Gaulle, was not completely oblivious to the future development of warfare like mental giants Budyonny or Gamelin. In 1932, his reform of Red Army was proceeding quite well. Of course it didn't last as Stalin was always afraid of him so he Purged poor Mikhail and his ideas about deep operation were in disfavour until it became apparent that Krasnaya Armiya sucked so hard that even Mannerheim pulled out a draw against it.

I think Draug is referring to the known *civilized world (as in known to the Romans) - north of the Rhine, not being considered civilized. The Romans knew of the Chinese (perhaps not before the 1st century CE), but they might as well have been on Mars as far as the Romans were concerned (and vice versa).

Russia - Formed 862 AD
Ancient Rome - Collapsed AD 1453

So apparently the 600 years of coexistence doesn't count?

Help Needed with an Application of sorts
A class I want to take next fall with a very distinguised professor (Jared Diamond) has an application as a prerequisite to enrolling. I have to write a one-page paper about myself and my interests. I'm not the most humble person in the world but for some reason I'm bad at bragging in this sort of context. Any tips from the webdip community?

Ended up dropping off webdip a week
...not that anyone necessarily noticed :) Anyway, since I'm not playing all that much diplomacy as of late (school), and no games at the moment, what does that say about my identity on this forum, or legitimacy to be here? PS I watched my first Star Trek TNG episode. The one with the Ferengi and the planet that was sucking the energy out of the enterprise and the Ferengi ship. "What is Yankee Traders!?"

Has anyone noticed that, ever since Obi started posting his "Philosophy Weekly" threads, that there has been a drop in political threads and an increase in philosophy/religion threads, posted not only by him but also by others?

gameID=47604&msgCountryID=7

So I know that playing with two profiles is illegal and wrong, however, I wouldn't mind someone taking over for the players who have ceased playing... ahem China... Anyways feel free to attack me if you wish, but I just hate it when players stop playing. Also if posting this info is illegal, which I don't think it is, than could you peoples tell me if such a thing is illegal.
