To those who are in the Masters, I'd like to put up to a vote whether we should keep phases for future rounds at 48 hours, or move to 36 hour phases. There are five rounds to play, and Round 3 will be launching in the next two weeks.

So many people know me, I don't even recognise them.
I just walked the dog. Came by a few kids, Morrocan roots I think. I'm white, not a racist, just noticed it usually happens with people with foreign roots, Morrocan most of the time. So any way, one of them said my name, asked about my dog blabla. Turns out they all knew me. I didn't answer. Just walked on. I don't get it. Anyone recognises this or anything?

Just in case you're wondering why there aren't more users?
Because of shit like this, is why you don't have more registered users. I'm not going to be playing my games anymore, my wife isn't going to be playing hers, and I highly doubt myself or my friends will play on here ever again. Here's the email I just got from the admin:

"Hi again,

I've removed you and your wife from this game. http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=114869 We do ask that people who know each other in real life only play in private games with each other unless they tell everyone beforehand that they know each other. This isn't anything against you but we do have friends who cannot play fairly together which requires this rule."

And here is my response:
"You guys are kidding right? That game is a private locked game that is full of our friends. It's ONLY people who know each other in real life. There's another couple playing, as well as the fact that another guy in there is my best friend for the last 10 years, his girlfriend, and three people we've known for bloody 8 years.

THAT WAS THE WHOLE POINT WE ALL WANTED TO PLAY A GAME TOGETHER. Everyone DID know in advance.

Why didn't you just ask first?!?!"

So the point is, I have one game, that is password protected and locked, in which everyone knows everyone, and then five or six other games that I have never talked to anyone before that game and don't know anyone in them. In fact, that private game was my FIRST GAME OF DIPLOMACY ONLINE EVER.

Congratulations for driving away new users Admin.

@strideknight - the game link is for a world game that needs 17 players. I don't know if you have 16 others who all know one another, if so I (and I'm guessing others) don't have a problem with that. The mods know that regular users have suffered massively as a result of people who know one another in real life entering games and not leaving their real life friendships at the door.
Maniac (189 D(B))

Also the game you link to is not a private game

stride - Why are you venting here and threatening to leave?

First - if you broke a rule, you've already been forgiven - they corrected the mistake, but didn't ban you - they gave you leniency because you are new.
Second - Threatening to leave is childish. If you are going to take your ball and go home, then go - but we'd rather you stay and jut adhere to the rules. But, threatening, and trying to suggest we aren't big enough, or will suffer with your absence, is simply absurd. No offense, but nobody here is in danger of not being able to play a game because you are leaving...so chill with the threats.

Take a deep breath...and stay a while. You'll learn to love us...or love hating us...either way, it'll be a blast. You're mouthy enough to fit right in to the forums! lol

I am not the mod who handled your case. I just happen to have a few minutes right now, so I'll give you my thought.

First, and most importantly, I think you are overreacting. Please calm down and reason this through.

Second, the game that you linked, which is the game in the email that the other mod who handled your case, is a gunboat public world map game, not a private classic map game. The mod DID NOT kick you out of that private game as far as I can see in the email. He kicked you out of the world map gunboat game that is public and open to everybody.

We do allow people who know each other to play private games. People do that all the time. Sometimes they even let us know about them before hand. And when we do see something odd, we ask first unless the situation warrants immediate action.

We do what we can to keep the games fair and to attract as many legit users as possible. If you do not feel that you were kicked from the right game, please email the mods at [email protected] and ask for an appeal or for another mod to look at your case.

Dude chill, I'm sure if you really are innocent and haven't broken any rules you can sort it out, but insulting people won't get you anywhere.
I've organised a private password game with just my friends before, minimum bet size, everything fair everyone knew each other and it was fine. Because we don't metagame. I'm not saying that you do, but perhaps you should argue your case a bit more before giving up and raging so quickly.
steephie22 (182 D(S))
17 Apr 13 UTC
Just out of curiosity: are you supposed to play those private games with RL friends with minimum bet size? Because you could earn quite some points by betting 100 D every time, but on the other hand, same counts for open games.

Dear member,

I apologize, I confused your friends and your wife's account due to the multiple connections between you and your friends account. Which is more then between you and your wife's. The point is still the same, we cannot allow you and your friend to play together in public games if you are playing from the same location, especially not gunboats. It just is not fair the other players.

I'm a big fan of proactive mods...I've already had a number of games ruined both here and at vDip by people who were clearly working together out of a previous relationship rather than what was happening in-game. I also joined the site with a number of people that I know in real life, and it was suggested to me when I contacted the mods that I list the usernames of people I personally know in my profile. That may help avoid any problems like this as well.

It hought about pushing buttons, but I won't. It's obvious this person joined an open world gunboat with someone he knew and now is pissed it was caught and he can't meta with his friend. If he does leave, no big loss. If not, maybe he'll grow up and stop overreacting when he was in the wrong.

OK, so I pushed buttons a little bit...

There are Mod-bashing times and noobi-bashing times. Both can be entertaining, this one has become a noobi one because of the haughty tone the OP took in his first post. Why should we give a damn if he stays or goes, bottom line is do not play in public games with friends & family, especially gunboats, when you can discuss tactics and moves with the person sitting next to you, that's not right. You can just play 'private' games.

@Miniac, the link in the first reply was posted by the admin. The admin made a mistake. Stridernight re-posted to show the admin's mistake. Stridernight was not in the 17-playe game. He said he was in a small game with a private-lock password.

Why do you think the admin made an apology? You guys need to re-read the first reply, slowly and read it 3 times. Gezz. With this mentality, America cannot compete. Where I came from, most kids are far superior than the typical American kids. 1 out of 100 men can play chess blind-fold. We don't need to see the board.

I am well versed in 40-50 subjects in mankind, read thousand of books and ten thousand articles. 2 years ago, nine out of the top ten math students were Chinese Americans, the first generation American. (Note: I am not Chinese.) The number 10th math student was an Indian American.

At the research place where I worked on a search engine for the government, (Yes, the government has their own search engine), the mix was:
_ 40% Indian mostly with PhD.
_ 30% Asian with half PhD and Master Degree.
_ 10% were from UK and Germany.
_ 20% were local American.

If America does not shape up NOW, China will surpass USA in 10 years economically, and 40 years technologically.
