I love the show, and consider myself a brony too. I'm actually in a brony anon webdip. game right now which I'm sure you're in then. In recent months I've come to realize that this fandom isn't any different from the other fandoms and has it's share of really creepy losers and negative self-hating elitists, so it's not like it's the best community ever, but it's still a pretty good one. Most bronies and pegisisters I've met are awesome and the creative fan projects out there are outstanding.

@Invictus: I've actually thought that too. I do fit the bill. Most bronies are nerds/geeks like me (though not all of them. There are actually a couple popular guys at my school who are casual bronies). Ironically, most brony haters are also nerds/geeks.

Lol, I actually didn't learn about furries until I became a brony. I don't really have a problem with furries though, as long as they don't go out and fuck animals in real life..

I am furry phobic, since dogs hump my leg I'm always afraid a furry will rape me.

I know zero about the show other than it's a cartoon about pastel-colored ponies, but that's enough for me to condemn anyone over the age of 20 who watches it regularly.

Personally, I think it's a weak attempt to cash in on the teenage desire to be a part of a marginalized group and pretend like the "hate" received by it is in anyway analogous to people who are actually prejudiced against. Back in my day, people who wanted to be rebellious and say "You don't understand the hatred I receive for my personal decision" would date interracially or change their religion or something else that would actually expose them to prejudice and change their life, not sit around talking about cartoon animals and pretend that they're so hated on.

It never fails, Bronies immediately go to the "How hard my life is, so many people unjustly look down upon me" when really...you don't even know what being looked down upon is like. They try so hard to be marginalized, and to me their constant whining about it is a slap in the face to people who actually are marginalized.

Please, give an example of "the rest of society giving you shit." You act like you're marginalized so badly, but where are the bronies being killed, being underpaid, being denied employment, being forced into poor neighborhoods, getting bad credit ratings, being completely shunned by communities, etc...for being a brony? They don't exist. I like the show, even though the target audience are little girls. Like any fandom, I find bronies too enthusiastic to the point where it's weird but that doesn't mean I will hate the show which has nothing to do with them. Don't really like Applejack though.

Depends on what kind of brony we're talking about here. Are we talking about someone who enjoys watching the show or a creepy fetishistic brony here? If we're talking about the former, I have plenty of friends online who watch and enjoy the show and it doesn't affect our friendship at all. If you're talking about the latter, I avoid them at all costs.

I'm not saying bronies get as much hate as other groups, because like you said we definitely don't, it's not even close really, and I'm very glad about that, because I didn't become a brony to be hated, I became a brony because I love the show.
