@Norbert your profile says you haven't played a game since May last year and that you have never played MPM3di4t0R. I can't put my finger on it, but it strikes me as odd given that you are posting in the forum today to complain about metagaming.

this site is full of metagamers and they are not always being caugth
there is also some legal metagaming :old players join forces and eliminate new players in ppsc in order to draw
i call them bottom feeders

@spyman - Perhaps the game got concelled? They don't show either. Also, ongoing anonymous games won't show (although he shouldn't know in this case). You shouldn't sling aspersions about when so many legitimate possibilities exist.

I suspect whatever games Norbert was in with MPM, they were cancelled.

MPM3di4t0R wasn't a meta gamer, he was a multi gamer. There is a very big difference. Multi basically means playing two characters with one person. Major cheating, major against the rules, and not to tough to find.

Meta is two people playing two characters that are gaining an advantage by contacting one another outside the game or using outside the game agreements that give them an unfair advantage. These are much more difficult to find and prove.

There is a very small population of multi's in this game. I'm sure a large part of the population is guilty of some form of meta (and some forms of meta ARE legal). Usually it is harmless and really doesn't hamper the game... and in large GR or veteran matches, they are pretty rare (I've never seen one, but I won't say they haven't happened). Nor do you see them in games with long phases (like 36-48+ hours/turn).

The places you see the most cheating are in anon gunboats, and anon (and sometimes non-anon) live games. And a majority of the rest are with newbie or low pot games. 99.999% of the cheaters are caught before they make a decent GR or play in vet games, so if you organize and play games from a higher GR individuals or ones you know from the forum, you'll go months without seeing any form of cheating. In fact, I think I've been in maybe two or so games with a cheater since I've been a member (Apr 2008).

Mods, if MPM3di4t0R has been un-banned, which would appear to be the case since he can still post on the forum, has points in hand, and doesn't have a huge red X next to his name, could you not be decent enough to remove the "banned by a moderator: multi" text from his account?

Not really fair on the guy if he was found not to be guilty to still have that statement on his account.

Sorry guys, I unbanned MPM3di4t0R based on a comparison with the wrong account. Apologies to the mod team for this misunderstanding, and to MPM3di4t0r for jerking you back and forth over this.

The decision to ban wasn't made hastily but unfortunately the decision to unban was, so I've put the ban back on.

Apologies for the mix up, thanks to the mod team, and I'll be putting in place more tools to make multi-account detection faster and more accurate.

Hey, I am one of MPM3di4t0R's friends, in real life. And there is absolutely no reason for this ban. I have stabbeb him. He has stabbed me. He does not have a multi either. He has a brother. I have a brother. They are learning how to play. They only want to play with us, because they don't want to be fucking destroyed. Like seriously dude, why can't a couple of guys have fun, and play a fucking game. I know I am using crude language, but this si really starting to piss me off.
We started playing a couple of months ago when our debate coachintroduced it to us. Naturally, debate is similar to this, so we got hooked quick. And eventually, we were (falsley) accused of Meta-Gaming. You can look in our past games of that. We exchanged e-mailes with the mod, and it was all sorted out. Now can we please fix all of this bullshit?

Well I'd rather he learned to play without using a crutch and breaking the rule rules so I would either find 5 other people and play only passworded games with people I knew or I would go to vdip and play the 2 person version till he was a decent player. But no, I would not play with anyone I knew I was going to ally with beforehand.

No, it wouldn't, the mods don't care if you play with other people you know as long as you make it a password protected game and you only play with people you know. Though getting permission first would be advised. It's when you fuck up other people's records by playing with unknowing bystanders that people get annoyed.
