Republicans trying to kill NPR (again)
WTF
NPR one of the only good mainstream new sources in America. I understand that it's not completely unbiased, but at least it isn't 50% commercials and 40% gimmicks. It's actual news.

intermediate diplomacy game
I've been playing webDip for a month or so, and I'm starting to get a little sick of the ridiculousness that happens in low stakes open games, like all the CDs and players who would rather go home early from a game than fight the long fight because it's PPSC. (I got into Diplomacy through FtoF with friends, so playing to do anything but win or stalemate seems very wrong to me; I'm aware others may disagree on this.) So I made made this game: gameID=52344.

These kind of stories are unique to All Things Considered. P.S. I hope they get one.

Stop fucking spamming me, you cantankerous quit monkey. I would never play with you, especially when you want me to join a game with your two pals, fortis and hitler, who you seem to always play with, and are quitters themselves.

What are your criteria for determining "number one"?

Is it numerical? Do you mean the person who has started the most threads or made the most forum posts?

Is it about quality? The person who has made the best, funniest, or most interesting posts?

Set your critera for "number one" please.

Here's the real question: at 3181 posts, does obiwan have more *words* than the highest poster?
Jamiet99uk (808 D)
03 Mar 11 UTC
Almost certainly. Obiwan's posts are often looooooooooong.
obiwanobiwan (248 D)
03 Mar 11 UTC
My posts are NOT long!

And now, the explanation as tom why:

Point 1 of 1,054...ahem...

;)

Well, at least I suppose if I ever DO find myself trying to write a book, I know I'll have the stamina for it...readers might pass out by Chapter 104, but... :p
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

Honestly, you could probably just take all of your forum posts and make a collection of not-so-short essays.
obiwanobiwan (248 D)
03 Mar 11 UTC
I actually wish I could, to be honest, take some of those forum posts, clean them up and edit them, and try and incorporate them into what I'm writing--after nearly an entire year I finally finished the first part of the book I'm attempting to write, somewhere between 125-200 or so pages handwritten--though my handwriting's not too small, so I don't know hom much that really is--as well as an additional 50 or so pages which are more tangental than the structured form I'm hoping it will take...

But often I'll say something on HERE, it'll resonate a day or so later, and I'll want to incorporate that idea in there...but I get the feeling I might have said it better, or at least more naturally, in the webdip forum than my attempts to recreate it...

So who knows--if I ever DO get published, you all might have seen the first draft of obiwanobiwan's work! ;) (Speaking of which, I'm typing an essay as I do this for Film and Lit.--6 pages on the poetry of Keats, how it relates to the movie "Bright Star," which is based off of the Keats/Brawne affair and poem of the same name, and of course I ahve all the usual allusions to Shakespeare and other writers, but as this is Film and Lit. and this is a biopic about a great artist, I'm including some references and comparisons to one of my all-time favorite moveis--and I've only seen it once, but just an incredible flick--"Amadeus.")

Geez, obi... I thought we had a new obi then we get this latest missive. Dude! Good God!
spyman (424 D(G))

I would say obi would win highest total word count easily.
But as far as number of post Draug seems to be number one by a big margin too.

maltizok (787 D)

i dont post a whole lot of words but for the short amount of time i've been a part of this site i posted what i think is a decent amount. Not even nearly close to the top posters though and for word count Obi proably doubles if not triples the word count of most if not all forum users

Maltizok. Don't hijack other threads to promote one you care about. That's just going to make people angry at you and not want to help.
maltizok (787 D)
04 Mar 11 UTC
smiley- sorry if thats what i was doing but im not trying to hijack the thread, it just seems like when i ask a question if it doesnt get a response quickly then the thread seems to just die off and i never get an answer and alot of the time thats fine but i would really appreciate an answer to that one.
☺ (1304 D)
04 Mar 11 UTC
If you don't get an answer, make a new thread. Don't post things completely off topic in someone's thread - did you consider that they might want to discuss what they set out to discuss? It's incredibly rude to derail someone's thread like that.
Sargmacher (0 DX)

"if anybody cares to take a look...im still awaiting an answer from someone on threadID=694367"

Is that all it takes to derail a thread nowadays? So fragile the threads must be here.
obiwanobiwan (248 D)

He has a point...granted you still shouldn't hijack a thread, but yeah, either way he's getting blamed for something here...ah well, 'tis the ways and goings-on of the Internet Etiquette, apparently!
maltizok (787 D)
04 Mar 11 UTC
smiley- when your having a conversation with someone didn't you ever (you or the person to whom your talking) randomly think of something completely off topic, say it talk about that for a little while and return to the previous discussion? i have done that (and still do that) and thought that my post about the other thread here would be something like that. I think that threads can be completely fine with an occasional monkey wrench thrown in. I see your point though and will try and stop myself before "hijacking the thread" again =)
☺ (1304 D)
04 Mar 11 UTC
I wouldn't have said anything, but this isn't the first time you've done it...
Sargmacher (0 DX)
04 Mar 11 UTC
Surely in acknowledging the comment in the first place and creating this discussion, smiley you have furthered the hijacking of the thread? After I saw maltizok's comment in this thread, I went and replied in the other aforementioned thread and did not think to respond here.

Surely making a whole discussion about the ethics of why it is so criminal to post such comments in non-related threads actually defeats the purpose of what you have said about not entertaining hijackers? ^^
maltizok (787 D)

Yes, but aren't you ALSO helping to hijack the thread? ;-)
