btw, how do you catch multi's anyways? and once you ban them, can't you just keep them from going back on phpdiplomacy? (like, find thier IP address or something)

Its not the first time I've seen it. And once you are known, then they can track you by IP or even ban the IP.

so if they ban the IP, then mulit's can't go on anymore, right? if so, then how can multi's "create more and more" as killer7 said?

Centurian, that won't work; I'm currently logged on from a public library's public and free wireless network, and I can have Windows reset my IP and get a new one whenever I want. And I'm sure anyone else with a library can do this as well.

Well they often dont ban IP because they don't want to penalise future holders of that address. But if someone just keeps creating more, then there is hardly any choice is there?

I don't see a problem with multi-accounting as long as they are not playing the same games. If they are running different accounts to try and conserve points or play a laid back couple of games and not be serious about it, they aren't gonna effect anyone

Well they are, because the points are there for a reason. If you have more than one account, they will get banned. It sucks if someone makes a bunch of accounts, is in all 40 active games, and then misses a move, it ruins everyones game.

Well, if they are in, ohh lets say 6, and are active in all of them. Whats the problem?

Well the obvious reason that comes to mind is you might just abandon the ones you do badly in at first and keep the ones you win in. Plus "active" goes down hill if you are managing more than a couple of games.

Perhaps sending viruses in their direction once IP addresses are known? Or inviting them to private games where they can be humiliated/beaten to death by everyone?

Multiaccounters = bane of a good game. Why would someone want to do that? Just learn to play.

Well Chrisp has in the past threatened to inform the employer of a past multi accounter after five minutes of online detective work.

Ok, I've found his four other accounts. I know the general area where he lives, his high school, his recent math contest scores, and some of his hobbies. Here's where I hit a moral roadblock though. I don't feel like I should divulge personal information concerning someone who's in Grade 10. I just want him to know that I can notify his parents if he continues to cheat.

I vaguely remember seeing two of his accounts earlier and noting that they were likely multi accounts, it could have been off a tip, but I can't remember right now. I didn't do anything at the time because I didn't think I had enough information, but thanks to him, he's reminded me of his existence.

It's a common misconception that on the internet you are anonymous. If you look the right places you can find a lot about me, perhaps enough to mail me.

Haha, well I only released info last time because the person was a repeat offender, that I'm happy to report has not come back. I was going to release info this time because he challenged me and I wanted to show him that there were consequences to his actions, but he's too young for me to do that.
