That just demonstrates that BoG doesn't really care about the decency and whether it is offensive. He only cares about trying to turn others against me. But he won't tell you how he was insulting me and baiting me into making that comment.

But in the game I have played with Dipperdon, he was very honourable and courteous. Although I understand that it can be hurtful when you are insulted, as far as I can tell from our game together it is out of character and certainly not grounds for banning.

So laurenceofarabia, you have no problem about people using profanity and calling you out in games? You find that totally acceptable? I have never used that kind of language when playing a game and there should be no excuse for that. We are all mature adults here who are here to have fun.

I've been told "fuck off" or "fuck you" and several other things here and other places before.
If you were having a "discussion" then you had the better arguments because the other guy had to resort Ad Hominems (personal attacks).
If you were playing a game then you obviously did something to piss the other guy off, since diplomacy is a zero sum game that most likely means you beat him or stabbed him well.
Either way well done.

No, laurenceofarabia, it's a forum convention not to post conversations in active, non-public press games. Finished games aren't even looked too kindly on.

Besides swearing isn't against the rules of Diplomacy, if anything it should be considered a useful tactic.

What this comes down to is just another situation where my reputation as a gamelong alliance player is at odds with someone who is disgusted by the very thought of having one. Add to that BoG's (unfounded) belief that I have a grudge against him, a few traded insults, a claim that he would suicide out against me for having *gasp* made a neutral opening which he claimed was attacking him, and... I let the f bomb fly. I should know better, yes. At the time it seemed appropriate.
