Official Announcement
Dear webDippers,
Draugnar and I are proud to announce that we managed to hack the site, ban the current regime and turned some enlightened members into mods.
We are looking into the cases of other previously banned players to see which were banned unjustly. We're not making any major policy changes, but we're ending the previous tyranny.
Enjoy your stay!

2015 MLB Preview and Predictions
It's that time of year again. Buy yourself some peanuts, some crackerjacks...maybe some syringes and performance-enhancing drugs, and get ready for another baseball season! My predictions for the standings, 10 playoff teams, playoff picks, World Series winner and then 10 predictions for the season are below...add your own. :)

The Greatest People in History Tournament
Now that nominations are in, it is time to decide who really was the greatest person form all of History. Will Ghengis Khan rise to conquer the bracket? Will Tolkien or the Beatles be the first Nominees to win two tournaments? Will Aristotle be proved wrong in his prediction that he will win? Or will a Wild Card take the whole tournament? Only one way to find out.

UK F2F Game
Would anyone be interested in a F2F game in England, sometime in the weeks following the 23rd of March?

Some of the mods were discussing trying to set one up, but obviously we'd need to know if there's enough interest. Where exactly it would be would depend on what's convenient for the people who express interest (and what locations turn out to be possible).

Is there a way to hide or remove games that I have been defeated in under the My Games column? It's kind of annoying to have games that you can't affect show up in my screen, and being reminded of a defeat every time I log on isn't fun, either.

Whatever happened to Draugnar?
Back when I used to be really active on this site, Draugnar was one of the most... distinctive personalities in the forum, despite the fact that I don't think I ever saw his points total at anything other than 100 for any period of time (which made a few people assume he was an entry-level noob, lol). Then he got banned, along with draugnar's_ghost, draugnar's_zombie, etc. Is he back under a different name? Is he gone? Sure he was kind of a douche, but man did he know how to troll.

Ted Cruz
Apparently this frothing nutjob has announced he is running for President of the USA. What do my US friends think about him? Is he a credible candidate or, as it would seem to me, a raging idiot?

Raging idiot. He's credible in the eyes of some Republicans. That's the scary thing.

Cruz famously read Dr. Seuss' "Green Eggs and Ham" as a political stunt while trying to delay some action on Obamacare.

The Democrats need a credible challenger to Hillary Clinton. We'll see if one materializes.

Cruz is a dip. Unfortunately I see no republican in the political spotlight who could or should run this country. Anyone who is willing to sign a letter to a foreign nation attempting to undermine our nations national security interests does NOT deserve to command the U.S military (of which I will be a part). When it comes to Bush, I think he suffers from the dynasty affect more so than Clinton, Bush has already hired many of his brother and father's former staffers for the campaign. Both Bush and Clinton need to show early on that they are going to be their own people and not just repeats of their kin. Bush has to do the most work in this department, and so far is failing to do so.
KingCyrus (511 D)

There are a lot more potential Republican nominees, (read potential, not good) than there are Democrat. I have only heard two names for the Democrats, but 8 or so for the Republicans.
Cruz is a nutjob. He'll never win, jamiet

"Cruz famously read Dr. Seuss' "Green Eggs and Ham" as a political stunt while trying to delay some action on Obamacare.

It's called a filibuster, you blithering idiots. That fact that you morons think this is somehow unique to Cruz, or is a "political stunt", just demonstrates your absolute ignorance of that way the Senate works. At least when a Senator reading nonsense on the floor to keep the floor under their control during debate requires action on their part, as opposed to the now feckless, pathetic lazy method of just assuming every vote needs 60 votes (which is completely un-Constitutional).

Pathetic that ignorant jackasses like you are allowed to express an opinion about things which you know nothing...and worse still that some of you are allowed to vote, wherever you may be.

"Anyone who is willing to sign a letter to a foreign nation attempting to undermine our nations national security interests does NOT deserve to command the U.S military"

Again...you are ignorant beyond belief. That letter sent to Iran was TRUTH. Obama, by executive action, has NO AUTHORITY to create a lasting agreement. Therefore, the letter was to inform Iran that the deal they are penning with a man who thinks he is Emporer, not the lead of a CO-EQUAL BRANCH OF GOVERNMENT, was useless in the long run, and that if they wanted a good deal, they needed to be aware of the actual legal process of treaties in the US.

The fact that so many Americans to so incredibly, woefully uneducated on such a vital topic is pathetic and scary.
Chaqa (3971 D(B))

Most of the Republican candidates suck this election.

So do the Democratic ones.

So do the Independents.

There's only one solution:

Krellin for President.
Chaqa (3971 D(B))
23 Mar 15 UTC
Oh, and while I haven't actually followed the Iran-letter-gate thing, I do agree that the President does NOT have the power to make treaties or deals with foreign nations. It's in the fucking Constitution. That's the Senate's power.
Chaqa - they didn't send Congress to Yalta or any other major conferences. How this goes, and how it always has gone, is that the President and Sec State begin negotiations, come up with something, and send it to Congress for approval. If Congress doesn't approve as with Wilson, then there is no treaty.

The Senate stepped way out of line with that letter
Chaqa (3971 D(B))
23 Mar 15 UTC
Like I said, gold, I don't even know what the letter said - I don't really care - but I don't like any branch of government stepping over its boundaries.

What we'll get is Obama making some deal and sending it to the Senate, and then the jokers will all say "Republicans are being assholes!" when they don't bend over and pass it if they disagree with it.
JamesYanik (548 D)
23 Mar 15 UTC
So Cruz was born in Albert, Canada, but the constitution says you can still be naturalized if both of your parents are American Citizens. BUT WAIT! His dad had his green card at that time but was not officially a citizen... so is he truly eligible?

And before anyone makes the claim that it doesn't really matter and he is 'American at heart' because there have been some national tests a friend of mine can't qualify for (Olympiads, NCJK, etc.) simply because she is technically Chinese - citizenship pending. I don't want this guy busting around rules simply because he 'believes in da country HALLELUJAH' cause that's bullshit and political favoritism.

@Chaqa it is a pendulum, the Republicans are too stubborn on some good issues, and then Democrats are too whiny on bad issues (pardon my lack of adjectival prowess)

You can be naturalized with just one parent. That's how my half-brothers got theirs. I thought you had to be born there until now, interesting.
Chaqa (3971 D(B))
23 Mar 15 UTC
I agree James, I love to ridicule both sides.

Personally I think the Iran thing is ridiculous. Iran is not some evil country. It's not our friend, sure, but I don't really think we need to be scared of them. I bet if you asked 9/10 people in the US they couldn't even point to Iran on the map.
JamesYanik (548 D)

Even still, Obama gets a LOT of crap about it by the Republicans, but now since Cruz is running they're like 'ah it's fine!! just calm down and ignore our hypocrisy'
