It seems like this site has had a ton of people come through, cause a shit ton of problems, then get banned.

That's a rather recent development. It was uncommon to see them banned until rather recently.

His profile says it was site violations, so it's entirely possible that he made some sort of threat against the site or against zultar or someone else. I don't see any reason that zultar or the admins would feel any inclination to actually say so publicly, but he had ten thousand chances to fix himself and he never really did even after pledging to chill out after multiple silences, so whatever it was, it was warranted.

He also revealed another player's personal information, by the way. Not sure that falls directly under a rule here but that's inexcusable.

I think it's bad form to address these things publicly, since they're complex and involve public and non-public information. It's easy to come out and say bad things about mapleleaf, but I don't think that's fair or will really help anybody.

Safe to say that there have been many different and recurring issues (I'm guessing this won't surprise many people), and at one point, one of the straws broke the camel's back. Point of the matter was Maple's antisemetic and/or homophobic and/or anti-American remarks were aimed at people Putin doesn't like, so he's a martyr. Maybe we should pickle him like Lenin.

mapleleaf was one of the most respectful, pleasant and intelligent players I came across on this website.

unfortunately for those of us still here the moderator team is chasing away "reasonable" players choosing instead to promote a community of sexism and racism, consistent with zultar's personal belief system.

Mapleleaf is as respectful and pleasant as obiwan is terse.

Point of the matter is Mapleleaf criticized Israel so Santa's going to make him out to be the worst person on the planet. The litany of people who racially abuse Muslim groups Santa never bothers to speak out against.

I have examples:

On multiple occasions mapleleaf sat my account when I was away. He was always willing to help me out when other players apparently vanished when I needed help in this way.

I have been involved running the GB tournament on this site. There was plenty of drama at all stages, as always, and while most players simply complained in the forum maple sent me a variety of PMs to let me know he thought I was doing a good job and to ignore the PMs.

I don't need to get into his political perspectives because those are polarizing. However, he always sides with the underdog and is quite clearly for equality.

I haven't been on the site for any apreciable amount of time for a month, apologies for missing what I wasn't here for.

Obviously he was a reasonable person. So he is going to be respectful to other reasonable people.

There are far too many players here who hate muslisms or who value guns over children's lives. We can't expect people to respond "respectfully" to this barbaric behaviour.
