I'm here to help. Do you need a *proper* signup page so it doesn't get hacked like the last one that caused all the pain and confusion? I can write one and have it online by Friday for you that allows new signups as well as updating info with a *password* and displaying who all is signed up.

I agree, ASAP. We need to redo signups, so I will get that signup system setup and online Friday at the latest and then publish it here. You will need your WebDip name, ID, latest GR, position completed (if played) in the last leagues, and an email address that is reliable. I will also prompt for a non-displayed password so no one can hack your entry.

I know orathaic handled a lot of phase length changing and reordering so just send [email protected] an email if you need help with that. We'll be able to set a TD now for those games which should make running this easier for you guys.

No to anon. If JG wants anon, my active help and participation goes away. We already have enough anon torunaments. The leagues are non-anon. I hope JG agrees with me.

i do not plan on changing the league rules in any way and draug is right, they are and will remain non anon. i thought kj was reffering to the signup form being anon so that i would remain impatial in league placing but that would be pretty complicated and really unnecessary....

I support Draugnar: even though there were polemics about non anon (the fact that several games in a row with same players need to a degree of metagaming), i feel that the fact that leagues are non anon is what makes them special, and definitely distinct from other tournaments.

Draug, your form sounds more complicated than i was thinking, if all you need is a append only list - meaning players can sign up, no need for a password, or anything else.

And google forms easily produces this and outputs to a google doc (why i didn't spend the ten minutes sorting this out last time... )

Jgurstein, i've emailed the 'spring' players, and shared the list with you.

And finally, apologies for my own inability to run this last season. I do feel really bad about this, and the players deserve a proper apology.

@Draug- I have taken on the responsibility of the forms myself and should have it up soon but thanks for all of your help.

@Orathaic- I have not received the list or old sample template that you used yet... I think you might have forgotten to attach it to the email.

Either way, those players will all have to sign up again for the summer season. The only thing that I might do for those players who have signed up for Spring is send them a pm since they have already ex pressed interest in the leagues.

My thoughts were that this would allowba persons email address to change and they could keep it up to date there. But that's cool. So long as we don't get a repeat of last time.

Don't worry, I don't plan on that happening again as long as I am TD. Only one last question: Why does everyone keep talking about GR in relation to the league? The rules for the webDiplomacy league clearly stipulates that old players are seeded based on past positioning and new players are seeded based on a first come, first serve basis. Where does the GR come in?

It's all about the elitists trying to keep their elite ways and elite games to themselves. Crap...now I'm channeling Blankflag.

My opinion was the seeding based on GR was better - I think that Ghost Rating has become the goto method for judging a player's performance.

Ideally the leagues would have league performance as the only seed factor and all new players would join an open league, but starting out this is not possible (or when there has been a large break)

That was my decision as TD, feel free to make your own calls and/or discuss the idea with the players.

Turns out that some seasons have been seeded based on GR but I plan on returning to the original seeding system based on the official rules (which is also stated above).

The form is ready and I will be posting it here, in a new official thread where people can follow the league games and important updates, and I will be sending it to the email addresses of those players who had signed up for the Spring 2013 season. Note that this is a different season and you will therefore have to sign up again even if you have already done so for the Spring season and that your positioning there does not guarantee positioning in the new Summer season.

GR had been used when new players were mere hours apart due to time zone differences. So we going back to Premiere, A, B * 2? You also need to double check the points as there was one game never got started due to a drop in A* so everyone in that game got 2 that, last I checked, weren't on the totals.
