Why is this a Resign?
http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=79233

I entered orders during spring 1914. I was out of town so couldn't do so in the autumn. Why does it say I resigned?
I know resigns look really bad so I'm trying to see if I'm actually guilty of this one, and if not if I can get out of it.

Just a suggestion...
Hello all:

I think we can all agree that Live games get harder as your country gets bigger. Sometimes it's hard to get all your moves submitted in time AND carry out effective diplomacy, once your country reaches a certain size.

Conflict over semi-precious jewels?
I'm writing this poetry explication paper for English and we have to pull as much stuff out of a poem as possible. I'm trying to get a theme of conflict within this poem, but I'm not sure about one thing. Is there conflict over semi-precious jewels in the world? Thanks.

WTF.
3 countries CD (4 later) and Italy refuses to draw. He won because France, Turkey, Russia and Austria all CD'd or missed a few turns. Seriously, wtf.
That is quite poor form. Do what I've done. I have a personal blacklist of players whom I never wish to play with again.
^^meaning start a blacklist. Its poor form what he did, but not technically against the rules.

Question:

Is it considered poor sportsmanship to invade a CD'ed country? Because I just rolled over a CD'ed Russia in one of my games.

I guess it depends. If the country was really big and taking it over would give you a huge advantage, then yes. If say it is a one SC country left, then it probably doesn't matter.

In general, if it significantly changes the power dynamics of the game, I think everyone should generally cancel or draw (which it usually does, but not always, for example we had both Turkey and England CD after it was clear that they were being invaded by I/A/R and E/F and they would have been defeated anyway and the spoils likely split up about the same, so we agreed to not draw)

+1 Troll is +1 ing.
Why do you do that KA?
@goldfinger - yes, I will do that in the future.

BTW it was an anonymous game.
Usually, when there is a CD in a game, and one or more players choose not to draw or cancel it, I gather an alliance to crush those who don't want to draw/cancel. It even works in gunboat, from my experience. But in this case there were simply too many CD's for that to happen, it would seem.

But Gunfighter, its a personal preference. I dislike attacking CD'd countries. I certainly am never the first to do it, since I want someone else to take it over, but if someone else is starting, then I'll do it. That's lowest on my options list though
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))

Why didn't you form a cancel alliance?

Why does everybody do this: you piss and moan about how an opponent wont cancel but you're too lazy/stupid/stubborn to hold him at the stalemate line. It isn't hard to do.
We couldn't! By time we reached him he had like 12 SCs and was cranking out armies and fleets like hell. He easily took French, Turkish, Austrian and Russian SCs because they CDed. So a stalemate line was hopeless and I stabbed Germany for more points.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))

actually, I see now, yeah by the time it was obvious he woudl win from CD's alone he had already taken Spain.

That does suck. Still, you should have been moving against him from '01 after T and F both missed turns.
Gunfighter06 (224 D)
17 Mar 12 UTC
In my particular case, I took 3 of Russia's SCs. It allowed me to continue to expand without having to stab my stronger ally. It may not have shifted the overall balance of the game, but it gave me a considerable boost. England also got one of his SCs.
Victorious (768 D)

@ KOD, yes you could. But you ware to stubbern to use the units in the north sea, Norway and Belgium for years. If you had trusted Germany, you could have moved into the med and maybe Russia. But because you didnt do much of an effort, Italy could point all his units to Germany, defeating him. So you have to admit, you share in the blame of this defeat.

Mostly poor tactics from E / G. Focus should have been on getting to the line first. Untimely German NMR, but Munich and Spain could have been defended with a little foresight.
You realize that he had taken over 4 CD'd countries before we could establish an attack?
Victorious (768 D)
17 Mar 12 UTC
You realize you gave away Spain, Moscow and forced Germany to give away Mar, munich and berlin? All centred around a stalemate line? So yes, i cannot say Italy played very fair by continuing, but i do say you could have prevented a solo.
I didn't "give away" Spain. I tried my best to defend it, but he had a unit in Marseilles, GoF and Western Med, so any defense was pathetic.

I couldn't get an army into StP until it was too late, and I had a FLEET in StP, so I couldn't get to Moscow.

Germany missed a turn and thus he was destroyed.

I'd love to see you try.

Autumn 1904 - MAO should have gone to Spain with support from Mars. The Channel should have gone to MAO. In Spring, when Liverpool goes to IRI, with IRI, MAO, Por, Spain, Gas and Mars, you would have Italy sealed out of the south.

Germany should have sent Den -> Kiel, Kiel -> Balt, Mun -> Burg, Sil -> Mun in Spring 1905. You would have had the line right there in 1905. That Germany NMRed is just rotten luck, it had nothing to do with the 4 CDs.

Even post the NMR you had a highly likely defense if you'd not disbanded StP - and got rid of Belgium instead, and Germany had retreated to Ruhr.

Look, the point of this post is not to criticize your play, it's just to show that some basic line awareness and tactical forethought can lead to stalemates in many situations, and it isn't any more than you'd expect to see even in a gunboat, if you have quality players. You'd said 'He won because France, Turkey, Russia and Austria all CD'd or missed a few turns' in your OP, this is not completely true. He certainly got strong because of it, but he didn't win because of it.
You knew from the first turn that France and Russia were out... and Italy was not ending the game. That should IMMEDIATELY have signaled all-out E-G alliance to stop Italy. This was salvageable. Italy's etiquette is deplorable, but the game was by no means assured to be his.

"but dude, if you are suck a dick, I will stay away"
So, I recently saw two 'chums' of mine settle their argument by means of sucking dick. Is this an American thing or is it a new influence from the Latino community (whose stereotypical accent my 'chum' likes to impersonate in his typing)?
