Middle Eastern History
I'm working on a curriculum for my AP World History class with a friend and it's my job to come up with resources covering Asia from 8000bc to 1450ad. I've found pretty much everything I need except for resources regarding Middle Eastern History. Do any of you know of good books that give a historical survey of the region in the time period I'm looking at? They can be online articles or books it doesn't matter.

Thanks.

So...Remember that "Star Trek Variant Map" I Brought Up Before?
I mentioned this summer that I'd like to try and work out a map for the Star Trek universe, with the Federation, Klingons, Romulans, Cardassians, Dominion, Borg, and maybe one other race (some said leave it at six with those powers, some suggested one more race to make the usual seven) as the powers, the planets as centers/"land," and space/wormholes as the "sea" spaces. So...bringing that up to speed...

Support rules question
I have a question concerning the rules of cutting support.
Here's the hypothetical situation: I have an army in Belgium and a fleet in the North Sea. Germany has an army in Holland and an army in Ruhr. Germany orders Ruhr to Belgium supported by Holland. What happens if I convoy my army from Belgium to Holland via the North Sea? Does it cut the support or is it the same as if I attacked on land (i.e. Germany takes Belgium anyway)?

Game messages stat?
So there's this stat on my profile called "game messages." I would expect that every piece of press I send would increase this stat, but it's been sitting at 42 for a long time now. Am I misinterpreting the meaning of the stat or is it just the mystique of 42?

I know there's quite a bit of economical liberals in this site, what in our country we call neo-liberals. I'd like to propose to those people, the lovely lefties and the crazy anarchists (That's you, Sic!) to read this article by the Guardian (UK), that shows how a small country, with a willing government and people, can make it's own economic policies, ignoring the cries of the pro-market crowd, and create the basis for 8 years of continous economic growth by active intervention of the State in the economy.

The IMF is a central bank. And as with all central banks, debt creation = slavery...leaving themselves as the masters.

http://dailybail.com/home/the-essence-of-banking.html

"The IBBC is a bank. Their objective isn't to control the conflict, it's to control the debt that the conflict produces. You see, the real value of a conflict - the true value - is in the debt that it creates. You control the debt, you control everything. You find this upsetting, yes? But this is the very essence of the banking industry, to make us all, whether we be nations or individuals, slaves to debt."

Banks are inherently evil. Kirchner knew this. Do you know who else knew this? Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy. Guess what they have in common...

They were all incorrect?

Debt is not inherently evil. Loosing control of your debts, or going further into debt than you can manage your own exit from is the risk, but when used wisely debt is absolutely fine.

Well, they are all dead, but not by assassination.
Tolstoy (1962 D)

They were all the victims of assassination attempts. Jackson survived the assassination attempt, however. But the other two obviously didn't. Many have speculated - then and now - that the assassination attempt against Jackson was retaliation for his killing of the central bank and being the first and only president under which there was no national debt to the banksters.

I think Darwyn is hinting at the theory that Lincoln and Kennedy were both assassinated for being anti-debt; in Lincoln's case, this is obviously not true. The Federal government racked up massive debts to pay for the Civil War, which Lincoln (as a high-powered corporate lawyer and tool of the Northern banking elite) wasn't exactly opposed to. The jury is still out on Kennedy, but I think he was assassinated for reasons other than being opposed to government debt (as with many things, the real historical truth is unknowable with certainty, but I think Oliver Stone was on the right track as far as Kennedy goes).
Darwyn (1601 D)

Correct, Tolstoy...each of them have resisted the central bank. In Jackson's case, his opposition is widely known...

"Gentlemen, I have had men watching you for a long time and I am convinced that you have used the funds of the bank to speculate in the breadstuffs of the country. When you won, you divided the profits amongst you, and when you lost, you charged it to the bank. You tell me that if I take the deposits from the bank and annul its charter, I shall ruin ten thousand families. That may be true, gentlemen, but that is your sin! Should I let you go on, you will ruin fifty thousand families, and that would be my sin! You are a den of vipers and thieves. I intend to rout you out, and by the Eternal God, I will rout you out." -- Andrew Jackson

Mere months after he annuls the central banks charter, there is an assassination attemtpt.

In Lincoln's case, he supported a government issued greenback to fund the war and restoration. This of course would have rendered the central bank obsolete.

And finally, in JFK's case, he issued Executive Order 11110 which issued a new silver-backed public currency called the U.S. Note. Again, rendering the federal reserve obsolete with it's fiat currency.

You should note that John J. McCloy, President of Chase Manhattan Bank and President of the World Bank, was made a member of the Warren Commission.
Tolstoy (1962 D)

Darwyn, the greenbacks were used to pay the soldiers and other 'second-tier' (that is, 'politically unconnected') creditors. The banksters were still paid interest on their loans to the government in gold. The result was that the vast majority of people were sitting on government notes that paid no interest, while the banksters received interest every year on their 'investment' in constitutional money (i.e., gold).

I think the E.O. 11110 theory may have some credibility/weight/value WRT Kennedy (although it would NOT have rendered the Fed obsolete, as I understand it, but merely created a competing currency), but to suggest that Lincoln was something other than a tool of the Power Elite is just plain crazy, IMHO. Interesting point about a Chase banker being on the Warren Commission - I didn't know that (what exactly do bankers know about presidential assassinations that the rest of us don't? Something to ponder for all of you people who believe everything the government tells you...)
