It is a private game me and a few of my friends made because we cannot play in person now the school year has started. Others have played with us before so don't worry about meta-gaming. Anonomous games
I am too paranoid to have multi's or meta's in a game that I am joining that already has 3-4 newly joined players. If I make the game it's fine but they never fill lol. Tell me my level of paranoia lol this game is worse than how THC is portrayed.

Not for cry babies
New game, for grown ups only people who sulk when stabbed, cry like babies if things don't go their way and take 24hrs to disband a unit when they have no other options need not apply. You know who you are.....

Early phase change?
Did the system change to where if everyone finalizes, the next phase is automatically started? Even just yesterday I thought that even if all 7 players finalized, we still had to wait out the last few minutes (in a 5 minute/phase Live game).

Today on the Help->FAQs the topic about faster phases was removed and I saw something in there about how it would automatically end the phase early if everyone's finalized.

Strange Bug...
A few minutes ago I logged in and checked my in-game messages. I had three messages, clicked on the games, and read them all. Then I left and came back a few minutes and the envelope was there for the games again. I checked them, and it hadn't recorded that I had read the messages I read.

Maybe this is just a one time glitch, and if it is, I'm sorry.

I think once IE wipes whatever lingering cache data is causing the issue it'll resolve itself, and there are workarounds until then so I've reenabled game processing, but if you notice something else let me know to get at exactly what's happening

Oh, and I didn't say it was CSS. I said it was IE 8 and added the CSS story as an example of just one of many problems with IE 8.

I am still having the same bug and i also have 3 games stuck in "due now" phase.
For web designers who are having issues with IE8, insert this line into the <head> of your pages: <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7">. It was so nice of MicroSoft to realize their new browser was going to break things that they released this as well.

fuck you, Draugnar!! go fix some CSS

kestas, the problem is present on a computer i have never used webdiplomacy before. it has IE6. basically, whenever i get back to home tab, the message i've read keeps reappearing. so home tab is stuck in the same state since i first opened webdiplomacy
alamothe (3367 D(B))
02 Oct 09 UTC
to reproduce:
1. open an account with an unread message withany version of IE
2. read the message
3. click on the hoe tab again - the message icon is still there, whatever you do (ctrl + f5 etc.) can't make it disappear

Thanks for the problem description alamothe but on IE8 Im just not getting that, and don't have any other version around. Which versions of IE does it do that with?

This may have been brought up already, but my problem is persisting. I have to refresh my page once I navigate to it before it shows the most recent stuffs. Is there a solution to this?

@Perry- Why do you say that?
Ivo_ivanov (7545 D)
02 Oct 09 UTC
Firefox is working perfectly, IE seems to have gone back ~10 hours in terms of message/game statuses.

This does not look like just a browser-related issue, can it be something something on the server?
Le_Roi (913 D)
02 Oct 09 UTC
Perhaps. It seems to have cleared up now for me. Odd.

I'd like to chart this problem once again... when I go to the homepage, I get to see forum postings from october 2 and my games shortly show the correct phase time a moment before turning into 'Now'... it's really irritating because now it's hard for me to get personal messages (and to react to them). I use IE8 and have got a Java program.
Draugnar (0 DX)
16 Oct 09 UTC
I can't apeak for the message timings, but the javascript that does the timer is tied to your local computers time. If it is different ever so slightly than the servers time, then the actual run time might be off by seconds or even minutes.

I'm experiencing this on a game-by-game basis. One game is updated normally, the other one keeps on showing up like a bad penny as 'orders pending' even though I submitted a few hours ago.

"They can suck it"
In the press conference after Argentina's win over Uruguay, wich led to direct qualyfication to the 2010 World Cup, Argentina's coach, Diego Maradona, dedicated the victory to the players, his family, and the Argentinian people.

To his detractors, the message was clear: "They can suck it"

Italy: 3 fleets opening
This sounds really interesting. Italy takes Trieste in Sp01 and Austria takes if back in Fa01. Italy disbands the army and is allowed to build two fleets to better attack France or Turkey.

Rankings
So I have completed a few games and have done fairly well. What I want to know is, where can I see the rankings? Like is there a list on this site rating all members that can be viewed?

What about Ghost Rankings? I hear they have not been updated for a while but where can i see them? And how does TGM take into account Anonymous games?

All Men Are Created Equal- What a Terrible Thought
I think it's a nice idea and in the Founding Father's context I can see through to agreeing with it on the whole:
But treating everyone equal just as a matter of fact? We are unique beings!
Case in point- our terrible American Educational System
