Got to hand it to him. NO matter how much people dislike him, NO matter how insane the forum is. HE just keeps coming.

True. But in my experience, sad, attention-craving babies like him eventually lose interest if they're consistently ignored, especially the ones as desperate as him. Replying to his own posts will not get him what he craves, so I doubt that will do the trick for him in the long run.

One thing's for certain: no one on this site can convince him to stop, no matter the arguments, amount of ridicule or sheer venom that people throw at him. I think he's simply THAT lonely and pitiful that he'll rather have people shouting at him than ignoring him alltogether. I actually feel kind of sorry for him, in a weird I-wanna-bash-his-sorry-head-in kinda way...

Getting people's attention is not a great accomplishment if you don't care how you do it. I mean, you can spam a gamers forum, or say, blow up an abortion clinic or fly a plane into a building. The hard part is to get people to acknowledge you for something good like talent or insight, especially if you're completely devoid of any redeeming features as Diplomat1824 seems to be.

I don't crave attention. Since Kestas' warning, all of my threads have been Diplomacy-related, not (borrowing a term from mapleleaf) "attention-whore" threads.

Well said Wotan. I will say - the time tested way to rid your event/community/web-site of the Riff Raff is to charge admission. I am sure there are plenty of folks that would raise objections. However, I think it would be possible to create a sister site which is a pay for play site. Maintain this site as it is - anyone can migrate to the sister site and agree to an enhanced set of standards. I have played since September. Many good games. Some, not so good. I have noticed that there are a few people that don't have a life outside of this site. Playing 18 games at a time and posting numerous posts that are lengthy, random and not related to the game. I have wished that those players were more focused on the game they are playing with me. Incompetence and lack of focus make it a very unpleasant game. Maybe there should be a limit to the number of games being played at once. I am an experienced player in Real world. I I find it difficult to manage more than 3 effectively. I also find that if you are really playing - communicating with other players, really considering your plans - one or two games will consume more time than most people should be spending, if your are a student and/or employeed or have a family, etc.

@TheClark: interesting post there. I hadn't considered the pay-for-play option but you may have a point. I guess it'll only have an impact if people like Diplomat1824 are consistently banned (and hence lose their money), right? I would be more than willing to go to such a site, even if the entry fee was substantial, if that means avoiding CDs, non-communicative players and idiotic posts like Diplomat's. Also, I think it's only fair that Kestas et al. get some money for all their work.

I agree with you on the no. of games considerations; I try to limit myself to max. 3 games for the same reason.

I don't have an issue with diplomat1824. If he wants to post inane crap let him. There are lots of other threads. If you see his name at the top of a thread and you don't like it, by all means ignore him. However if you get some pleasure by expressing your outrage, that's your choice too.

@spyman: I'm not disputing his right to express himself, nor anybody else's right to reply to his posts. The point I was trying to make is that a number of otherwise sensible people continue to reply to his threads pointing out his idiocy, telling him to shut up, etc. I meant to point out that this is unlikely to accomplish what I guess most of us(?) want, i.e. that he loses interest in clogging up the forum with his bullshit. I therefore wanted to suggest a different approach in the vain hope that people would agree with me and follow my suggestion.
