The King is Dead! in Modern Europe!
We recently finished gameID=175496. After some talk I want to do another game but with slightly updated rules and a different map.

Bernie Sanders kicked out of hippie commune for laziness
http://freebeacon.com/politics/bernie-sanders-asked-leave-hippie-commune/

Raises the question in my mind of what will be done (if anything) with people who refuse to work in the socialist society Bernie and his supporters wish to impose. Forced labor camps? Expulsion from the country? Revocation of their EBT card and Section 8 subsidies? Or nothing?

Balls
what is the ballsiest thing youve said to a player in game to try to get your way. Threats, blunt acknowledgements, or demands....

Everything I've ever said in game is completely reasonable and understandable.

The ballsiest thing I have received from Hellenic Riot was "I am not going to the channel" (spoiler: he went to the channel).

Oh! And that time Balki told me "There is no stalemate; I am in Warsaw". That was a good one too.

It's probably to balance out my completely reasonable and understandable press.

I think the most ballsy was in a live game, where I went with:

"If you do not reply to the email you got from [email protected] within 5 minutes I will ban your account and contact your school administrators and let them know you're using your account to cheat and make threats against other people online."

It worked.

I was in that game I think, jmo. It was truly hilarious.

"Oh, I'm taking Paris. But no worries. Retreat to Brest and I'll convoy you to London in the fall."

It didn't work.
It's not entirely ballsy, but sure was arrogant. I was the dual monarchy, with a Fleet in the Black Sea and armies in Bul and Arm. I was surrounded a living three centre Turkey in his home centres, and I was starting to expand into St. Pete. However, I was losing the fight against Italy, with no way to free up Trieste for the fleet build I needed to turn the tide.
Ingeniously, I sent Turkey a message detailing exactly how he had no hope of resisting me. Then I offered him the ultimatum. If he did exactly what I said, and sent F EMS- Ion, and not to Aegean, I would leave him with a survive.
He agreed, and instead moved to Aegean. As it turned out, I didn't need his help anyways. I killed him that year, and went on to solo.

I asked a compadre to give me a center recently. I needed a build to keep up our fight against the others. I guess that not very ballsy. He didn't give it.

Most ballsy thing said to me was in an ancient med game. One player on a mutual border didn't show. We each took our neutrals as well as theirs. Then the player said he would be taking all three centers of the player who didn't show.

Ballsiest thing I've said. To the player above, I agree. I then proceeded to take 2 of the three centers of said player while backing all his fleets up

In one of my few games of Ancient Mediterranean I realised that war with my southern neighbour Egypt was probably inevitable, I had an alliance with Greece so he could fight Rome, so when the chap with Egypt sent me a transparently false alliance offer in the second year(?) I sent back an equally false acceptance and said I'd " be happy to have him as my servant " as part of that message..... Well the response from the blighter playing Egypt was incredible... He apparently felt he had been extremely insulted, complained in a global post, demanded an apology ...incredible reaction....so I apologised in a global post... To the other players.. For the appalling behaviour of my servant and invited the chap with Carthage to visit the Western sc that Egypt has, and if my servant had not properly cleaned the stables, or failed to prostate himself on the ground before guests, or made any improper advances towards any ladies, etc etc, then the chap with Carthage was requested to give my poorly behaved servant a damn good thrashing....
This sent the blighter with Egypt into "incan~flippin'~descent" mode...andi have to admit that having found a psychological "button to press" of such rare quality......I kept pressing...and invaded and defeated the blighter so much easier than if he'd kept his cool..his game fell to pieces.....so the servant comment was what I thought to be a minor insult, not a super ballsy threat..but it drew an incredible response

In one of the best games i've had on webdip, my england and madmarx's france we at odds. I launched some chainsaw diplomacy at him, promising to bounce london - with my fleet north sea stopping his invasion in its tracks, how he would gain nothing, how he had made a terrible mistake by invading me, etc.

When the orders came through he had convoyed to wales not london, but my fleet in tue north sea had taken belguim, and now suddenly he had a disband.
Here is where the ballsie bit came in.

I promised him my loyalty and an alliance if he disbanded army wales. I told him he had this perfect chance to tun the game around and we would be best buds. Brilliantly, he went for it. And the game came down to me, him and Russia. Our alliance crushing everyone else ( thiugh a few stabs later and it resulted in a marx solo victory).

Still, such an enjoyable game, and it hinged on that moment - A complete load of vicious lies, followed immediately by the 100% truth. Like, 'yeah, i was lying just now, everything i said, but now listen to me, this is the honest truth...'

I may have made more ballsy move or strategies, but i think that was the ballsiest press. (Or at least the most memorable)

I won't have time to play shorter games for several weeks, but I want to go ahead and get a slightly longer game started with some reliable folks who don't mind 3 day phases.

The Trump Effect
Recently I've been hearing several left leaning souls start talking about the likelihood of them voting Trump now that the Bern has been all but extinguished. What I am curious about is why. What is it about Trump that makes him the lesser of two evils?

Just a basic question!
What does voting to 'Cancel' mean? what do you cancel when you vote for it?
And, how does Pause work? when you pause, how do you resume the game? is it paused for a specific amount of time or do you vote to un-pause later?

First Time Prom.
Help me WebDip, you're my only hope.

Seriously, though, I am a male junior, and found out today that the person on my mind has me on hers. Prom is in 2 weeks. I have not asked her, and fear that the window has shut on this opportunity. Even if I did go (all my buddies want me to go) I would have no idea what to do, what to say, or where to go.

Austria Hungary
Has anyone ever commented on the apparent loss of the word "Hungary" from AH's appellation? I hear it in face to face play, but around here, the red pieces are only ever Austria.

I think this article raises interesting questions about tue performance of masculinity: survival skills, reverence for 'back to nature' thinking, inner city violence... Never mind sexuality.

Modern Diplomacy Game with 5 teams
Hello guys, I´m intending to do a Modern Diplomacy Game with 5 teams. 10 players, but without any communications inside de game. The only way to communication is talking to this real person by email, whatsapp, etc.
But to have equation, balance, one should have just another guy in his team. Not a 3 person team. This will work? ANyone want to participate?
