F01 - A Portugal
I've heard some people say that moving Marseilles-Spain in S01 is a complete waste but is there not an advantage in needing to be in Spain in 02 instead of Portugal? Thoughts?

A Portrait of Our Heroes as Young Men (Or Women)
Maybe it's because I'm young and trying to write and have grandiose hopes and dreams--shoot for the stars and I'll just land behind a desk, still it's better than having never looked skyward at all, I suppose--but I often like to think what people must have been like in those younger years "just before" they sparked greatness...what do you think? Any famous people you ever think of as, say, 20, just before greatness? (Bonus points for YOURSELF at 20!) ;)

CSteinhardt is the site police.
He spends his life policing this web site. He reports daily to the mods on everyone's moves within games and post n pre-game comments in the blogs. He is like one of those Nazi or communst informants who report potential "enemies of the state".

P.S. - Look at his posts. Always involved in some type of controversy or witch hunt. Get a life CSteinhardt, there's more to it than being a web site security guard.

Internet discourse is turning me into an asshole. I will be taking a break from the Internet. I will finish my games and the debate, but I won't be back for a while. I still love you all and I'm not quitting, so don't trip. This is not directed in enmity at anyone, this is for my own good. Peace.

Gun Control, or Something Else--Why DO We Have So Many Shooting Deaths in the USA?
In the wake of The Dark Knight Rises shooting--condolences to all those afflicted by this horrible tragedy--I think the question bears mentioning again. I know pro-2nd Amendment folks here will say it "could" have happened regardless of gun control laws, and that crazy people will always do crazy things, and so on and so forth--but we're EASILY the most violent 1st World nation here, guys, and we allow a lot more freedom when it comes to guns...I DON'T think that's a coincidence.

US gun deaths are 14+ per 100000 people, Mexico's and Brazil's are almost 13 each, but the U.S. has a *lot more guns.

Obiwan,

"Why is there constantly a fear among a certain sect of Americans that the government is out to deny you each and every last one of your liberties and that they can and will..."

If you cannot see that the government is, in fact, doing exactly what you immaturely mock, then you're truly asleep.

Further, even if you don't ascribe to the idea that governments, in general, are by their very nature oppressive, maybe the very reason that the US Gov't hasn't yet become tyrannical is PRECISELY BECAUSE Americans are so well armed.

A healthy does of paranoia is a very powerful tool in self-preservation.

If I am a conspiracy theorist, you're a coincidence theorist.

People all over the world, all through out history, have laughed and pointed at the people that were raising the alarm, and people were worried about the rise of tyranny. They've told people to "grow up" and "that cannot happen here..." And those nay-saying people found themselves in gas chambers, buried in rice paddys, and in gulags wishing they had listened. In actual fact, Obi, governments that HAVE NOT descended into Tyranny are actually the anomaly, not the other way around.

You can try to disparage me by calling me names, but that doesn't make your myopia any less glaring.

Obi,

If I am a conspiracy theorist, you're a coincidence theorist. Which is more delusional? To believe that everything just happens, that people and institutions DO NOT work together to accomplish their goals and that NONE of these people and institutions have ideals that go against the greater good of humanity, or that there are?

Personally, I cannot believe that so many people are so asleep to the tyranny that is creeping into our once great Republic -- the delusional trance like state is truly befuddling. You're echoing the very same sentiments of people all over the world and through out history..."grow up, that would NEVER happen here..." Yes, you echo the sentiment of people that found themselves wrapped in small pox laced blanket, in a mass grave, or a gas chamber, buried in a rice paddy, or in a Siberian gulag.

If you're correct, and the US is NOT actually descending into tyranny, have you ever thought that perhaps the reason that it hasn't is because Americans are so well armed? Tyranny is far more common than freedom.

Your name calling and mockery is very telling. I understand that you feel very uncomfortable accepting the truth, and looking at the situation in a realistic manner. Ironically, you call ME childish, when it is your ilk that refuse to see what is right in front of you face, and is the historical norm.

People all over the world see exactly what I'm talking about, and they're laughing at us. Not because we're "conspiracy theorists" but because we believe the bullshit fed to us by our corporate controlled media, i.e., we're a nation of "coincidence believers."

ah yes, Aurora has VERY tough carry laws I find out today. Some of the harshest in the Country is how it was described.

You know, some asshole like this comes into some area where CCP are easier to attain, and SOMEONE is taking that guy out. Body armor be damned, knee caps work just as well for 'taking him out'

I carry 24/7 out of the house. ALL the time. Never had a need to pull it, even in tough spots, the need to pull that gun out has never crossed my mind that I can think of. If I was in that movie theatre, I am sure, I would have.

You know, in one of the few restaurants in my small town, people carry there all the time. Think some nut job like this guy is going to go into there, and try some dumb shit like that? He would get mowed down in seconds.

Japan has very tough gun control laws. It does lower the bod¥ count in mass murders because it takes longer to hack through a crowd with a sword than fire off guns. It doesn't stop the problem, but it does change it slightly.
No, I'm not hunting up a reference to the last time it happened there. Google it yourself.

I'll tell you one thing that I experienced first hand.

I live in Texas, and in my neighborhood a few years back, there was a crew of thugs going around kicking doors in during the day, pulling a van up, and unloading mostly electronics. We had a neighborhood watch meeting in which a police officer attended, gave us details about the guys, a description of their van, and what the PD was doing about the situation. I asked my neighbors in attendance, "how many of you have guns in the house?" About 50% of the 25-30 people said they did. "I suggest everyone go to the range ASAP, bring home your targets, and tack them to the front door." A few people chuckled and I could tell they were uncomfortable. The police officer smiled, and said, "You know, letting a would be intruder know that there could be an armed citizen behind the door isn't a bad idea...neither is getting a big, loud dog..."

I took out two of my targets and wrote on one, ".357 magnum 25 yards!" and "12 gauge shot gun 00 Buckshot!" on the other. Several of my neighbors did the same, and wouldn't you know it, but the guys moved on to another neighborhood. Was it only us? I doubt it, because the cops had stepped up their patrols of the area. But, I guarantee you it ENCOURAGED them to move on as quickly as possible.

http://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/crime/item/12175-two-aurora-shootings-one-widely-known-the-other-ignored

iNTERESTING STORY THERE, that happened also in Aurora, not so long ago. Man went into a church, trying to do a mass murder, shot 1 person, and then was killed by a church member with a gun. Interesting how that works huh?

One group is sheep to the slaughter, the other group, well, did much better for themselves.

Mich man, that is funny. I like that story.

We need players for an anonymous players, pw-protected game. It's a sequel of sorts to a game that had good players but a couple of missed moves and a civil disorder that threw the balance off.
