New low tension game
Hello everyone, I had started a game to help teach a few friends about the wonderful world of Diplomacy but unfortunately 2 had to drop out and now we need two people who are willing to take their place in a low stakes, low pressure game.

The game's name is "Eat a crocodile!" and the password is "omlette" (yes, a mispelling of the word omelette)

Especially in Wisconsin LIVE
I think the forecasted eight to twelve inches of snow, and near certain cancellation of school for me tomorrow dictates celebration. Anyone interested in a public press, WTA live game not anonymous? Let me know before I make the link. What pot size do you think would be good?

France won because the rest of us went CD, I was trying to get back on and continue on with the game play but the server was not responding to my computer. Any help a mod can provide would be much appreciated.

Is there a way we can get a game pause?
In our game, gameID=16391, we have some suspect players, and we'd like our game paused until the situation can be resolved. Four of us have voted for the pause already. Thank you

Optional Rule -- Strategic Focus
I don't know if anyone else has implemented an optional rule like this, but it occurred to me the other day while perusing the rules of Diplomacy. I call this rule Strategic Focus, and it essentially gives a +1 to a unit of your choosing anywhere on the board.

Books!
I live in Italy and it's difficult to find fantasy books here in English. I usually have to order them so I'm looking for opinions and/or suggestions for great series to read. Thanks.

700 D pot!
Hey!
Anyone interested in a 700 D pot (100 point entry) anon WTA gunboat game!
Declare your interest in such a game here and I will create a game and send the password to the 6 lucky persons.
Also, the players that are going to participate will be announced here before the game starts so it will be a anonymous game but all players will know who they are facing.

The NFL Franchises- Who Ranks Where In All-Time Prestige?
Rank the 32 NFL teams (All active teams, Titans/Oilers count as one, Browns I and II count together, Ravens are seperate, etc.) Take into account the team histories, championships, the NFL's most historic games, players, coaches, how the franchise has acted over time- GO!

Suggestion for Finalizing Orders
How about making it so that if everyone has saved their orders and everyone but one player has finalized their orders, the game's next turn is automatically processed as if everyone including the slow-poke had finalized their orders?

For that matter, how about having 6/7 votes carry (because so often the seventh non-voter merely does not vote because they are a noob)?

rule check - support-hold order on a unit, that doesn't hold?
Army A support-holds Army B. Army B support-moves Army C to another province.
If army B is attacked with support, will it be dislodged or does it just switch to hold and the attack on B results in a stand-off?

I know it should be obvious, but somehow I'm unsure. Thanks

Yea, that's what I thought too. But there's this game: gameID=14997
The Global posts about Turkey were posted a few weeks ago, when the game was being played, yet it says they were posted on the 5th of December!

Hmm, which browser are you using?
John Galt (102 D)

Generally in Google Chrome and Firefox 3 I see the correct date listed in profiles, game times, et cetera until the page finishes loading. Then all months change to December, "4:29 hours" changes to "4 hours", and some years become "undefined".
twenger (100 D)

I use Google Chrome. And things sometimes happen the same as John Galt was saying. Dates and times mysteriously change after the page finishes loading... a very interesting phenomenon. =D

I wonder if this is related to the timestamp tag on the element?
I think that the browsers are interpreting this, and so show the timestamp for the appropriate time. Then, when the page has fully loaded, this is hidden and instead the data within the field is shown, which is incorrect. Saying that, maybe it would be more logical to assume this were the other way round?

My understanding is that the first date that is shown is the date from the server in UTC. And then some javascript is supposed to be taking that date and time and changing it for the timezone. But I was seeing the same thing where the UTC date that briefly shows looks good, but then the updated date is in the future. I'm not seeing it happening right now on my work computer. Both my home and work computers are on Firefox 3.0.15, but not sure what version of Java is on each.

Ah forgot about this thread. Turned out there was a bug in the JavaScript (I forgot April or March, about as stupid a bug as you get), so all months after April/March appeared to be ahead by one month, but it should now be fixed

Alderian; yup that's the gist of how it works, the UTC time is generated in PHP so wouldn't be affected by JavaScript bugs
