Rules question - Dislodged units of country in CD retreat? or disband?
A clarification on rules please. A country in CD has a unit dislodged. It is physically able to retreat. Is the unit forced to disband given that it is in CD? or does it retreat according to some algorithm? Thanks in advance for your help.

minor retreat bug
in this game: gameID=13090

i am italy and my fleet was displaced at aegean, with the only valid retreat being to east med - but i was given the option of bulgaria. when i clicked on it and "saved" i got an error message of course. seems like bulgaria should not even be an option in the drop down menu.

Ready/Not Ready Not Working?
In one of my current games, the game does not resolve, even when Ready has been set from all players. It usually takes changing at least one set of orders to Not Ready, then back to Ready, before the game will be resolved.

Star Wars
Loved by many a fan (including me), it's considered by some as the greatest movies of all time (4-6 that is). Which is your favorite, what do you think about the prequels and what do you think about that god awful cartoon movie?

Perhaps, just perhaps, the lasers can be programmed to shoot down the missiles that aren't Soviet. Unless their targeting systems home in on the letters CCCP...
Draugnar (0 DX)
11 Nov 09 UTC
Actually, I think it's the sickle the homing system locks into, but if they could change that to be a big star without any strips around it, we might be able to convert it to intercept the Chinese missiles.
Thucydides (864 D(B))
11 Nov 09 UTC
The fight between Old Ben Kenobi and Vader in IV is the best one of them all, once you've seen the prequels. So much meaning.
jman777 (407 D)
11 Nov 09 UTC
Maybe they could just make it colour sensitive? Then if a missle came at us that had any kind of flag on it we would be able to shoot it down.
Draugnar (0 DX)
11 Nov 09 UTC
@Thucydides - True, when you add in context and understand that this is the same two characters that fought in Sith and that the roles are essentially reversed. But there are a few lines out of place. "When last we met, I was the student and you were the master." is not technically true. While Anakin was not a member of the council, he was no longer a padiwan either. He was just like any other Jedi Knight at that point.

I never understood why Obiwan lets Darth Vader kill him. Why?

It's like a no clipping cheat code.
jman777 (407 D)

Because Obi Wan became even more powerful after he died. He became one with the force.

Surely the vast majority of star wars fans agree that old-great, new - completely crap no?
i like Jedi (except for the ewok crap) myself
vamosrammstein (757 D(B))
11 Nov 09 UTC
Ah come on the ewoks were the best part of the whole series:]

Other than that, and with the exception of Episode III, I'm with you sean.
Acosmist (0 DX)

Anyone seen the Ewoks movies?
jman777 (407 D)
11 Nov 09 UTC
I liked the tragic element of of III alot. Episode I wasn't to great but II was pretty decent for a sci-fi action film (cause thats what star wars is...basically). The original trilogy is still great though.

Was the Ewok movie the Holiday Special I've heard about but so far managed to avoid?

In any case, a recent xkcd strip related to Star Wars:

Why would anyone waste billions of dollars on a nuclear weapon delivery system that gives your enemy a 30 minute head start on launching a counterstrike when you could deliver a nuclear weapon for the cost of shipping a pallet of widgets internationally and some bribes to low-paid customs officials?

The whole missile race was just a full employment for rocket scientists racket, greenlighted by generals and politicians who were still getting over the shock of seeing airplanes serve a decisive role in warfare. They thought new and expensive technology was always better, and the military-industrial complex is never going to say no to fleecing the taxpayers. But as we've seen the last few years, expensive and hi-tech doesn't always equate to being effective. 19 untrained nobodies armed with $5 boxcutters and a copy of Microsoft Flight Simulator 98 did more damage to the United States of America than the hundreds of billions of dollars' worth of ICBMs in the Soviet arsenal. The greatest and most expensive military machine on earth is being tied down by a bunch of Afghan goat-herders armed with homemade bombs small arms designed 60 years ago. I'm sure these lessons aren't being lost on China or any other future enemies of America that could afford to blow hundreds of billions of dollars on missiles that're going to be shot down by laser beams.

To be honest, I'd rather think the whole lasers-shooting-down-missiles thing is really a cover for the massive expenditures needed to fight the secret war in space against the Grays.

Jumping to hyperspace on the way to Alderaan. Completely stunning to a nine year old.

actually I hated the first three but ofcourse I am a new genreation. and I like all the special effects in the new recent ones. Yes the dialouge was a little stupid but it was still good.
jmo1121109 (3812 D)

Are you kidding? I am the "new generation" and I loved the first three, can't decide between the original star wars and Jedi as the best. As for the Prequels: Phantom Menace was ok mainly because it showed how the Emperor rose to power. Attack of the clones, well if they left out everything except the arena scene and the fight between Yoda and Dooku. Revenge of the Sith was awesome. Not as good as the classics because of acting but the fights between Obi and Grevious, Yoda and the Emperor, Mace and the Emperor, Obi Wan and Anakin in that order (worst to best) were awesome. Though it really bugged me that Kit Fisko, Siessa Tin and that other master all were killed in under 10 seconds against the Emperor. The cartoon is good for a laugh, it really is that pathetic. All of you who are either pretending you don't know the difference or really don't, between Star Wars and Star Trek get of this forum and go to hell.

Five had the better ending, I'm one of the "new generation" as well (being only 16 years of age) I still grew up with the original three though. The first three (produced/released) are WAYYYYYYYYYYY better then this new crap they are trying to push to cash in on the star wars idea. On a side note did you know that in the cold war the United States government stole a page out of Star Wars and told the Russians we had a Death Star, they went broke trying to duplicate it and thus Star Wars saved the world.

Also the talk about shooting down missiles, I mean really? Come on now. Shooting down a nuke is like being hit with a nuke, even if the explosion doesn't hit you the nuclear fallout would kill you just the same (except not really the same, you would die of something more horrible then an explosion) besides the very idea of it being retarded, this is a Star Wars thread PLEASE take missile talk into a different thread.

Iceray does not understand nuclear physics ITT

Iceray0 (266 D(B))

I have enough of an understanding to know that no matter where it blows up in between here and china the fallout will still do more then enough damage

Personally, I liked episode 3 best out of the entire hexology. Between the action and explanation, it really bound the entire series together. Episode I was crap, aside from Qui Gon Gin, and he died in the end.

Also, I am 19, making me part of the 'new generation'
Mack Eye (119 D)

Iceray:
ICBMs are not firecrackers - detonating a the warhead (thereby producing fallout) is a very fiddly and technical process. Simply shooting down the delivery system won't produce a nuclear explosion.

Back on to the sci-fi Star Wars, rather than the Reagonomic failure...

What about the Cartoon network series from a while back...? The one by the same dude that made Samurai Jack. Apparently, George Lucas refuses to acknowledge it as a part of Star Wars Cannon.

When is someone Cheating?
Isnt it incredible how in some games (anonymous to boot) some players never attack others.

Today, I observed one power skip several turns and then wake up make 1 move and then go back to sleep. I wonder if the same Person used this second nation as a ploy....... Thats cheating right?
