What I find so amazing, and pathetic, is that Zmaj is always so quick to disparage everyone's poor play, but when he plays one of the MOST BONEHEADED Austrian openings I've ever seen, he won't even man up to it -- he blames others and says, "I woulda...I woulda..."

It's beyond "sad." I'll be he gets/got his ass kicked a great deal. As I said in yesterday's thread, his attitude is obviously covering up a great deal of "real life" insecurities.

I have some sympathy for Zmaj here in that Italy's A01 moves of tyr-vie, ven-tri were not entirely predictable, but he mentions he was relying on tyr supporting ven-tri. If so why try for rum and gre? MM was always likely to bounce gre and russia could've bounced rum leaving Austria with possibly no builds. Even gaining rum gives likelihood of +1 build but as bud and vie are vacant the position is poor and Italy has at least +2 builds. The safe way here was surely alb-tri with ser support and cover vie with gal unit. Certain +1, good position to repel italy with bud build and italy only has +1 rather than +2 or +3.

I like aggression sometimes but the rewards for that aggression must be worth having, otherwise discretion is the better part of valour.
