A proposal:
Anyone with over 100 games completed and a 25%+ resignation rate gets their account revoked. That's simply a ludicrous amount of contempt for the other players on this site. I'd rather play against multis than someone who resigns that damn often.

The Great Debate: Steak vs.Shrimp vs. Chicken
Gonna have to say Shrimp but yea. this is pretty important.
King Atom (100 D)

Shrimp. You can do so much to it that you just can't do to steak.
And honestly, Chicken is good, but it's just nowhere near the other two.

Oh, and you can ruin steak and chicken. Shrimp is so easy to make, and so savory in the mouth...

"Steak is too chewy." That's because you are either 1. A *cheap* grocery shoper or 2. a lousy cook. Good *steak* melts in your mouth. And I say *steak* because not all "beef" is "steak"

Draug has it right....Steak and Shrimp....fuck the potato (I'm off of grains and potatoes and the weight is falling off....seriously....just meat, veggies and fruit) basically, any protien is what I love -- steak, shrimp, chicken, etc...they ALL have their time and place if you are a good cook.
Celticfox (100 D(B))
23 Jun 12 UTC
Does a sweet potato count in that? I know they're pretty healthy for you but not sure if the good out weigh the bad.
krellin (80 DX)
23 Jun 12 UTC
@Celtic --- errr....who said steak was bad for you? I have switched my diet over to pretty much exclusively protein and veggies and the weight is falling off. wife has gone from size 10/12 to 6/8 in a few months with no change in activity.

www.marksdailyapple.com

I ***highly** recommend signing up for the newsletter, and reading the material. PROTEIN, HEALTHY **FATS**, no grains, Veggies, some fruits...turns your body in to a fat-burning machine.

Healthier than in *years* and I ear eggs in butter, bacon, beef, etc all the time...modern "science" is wrong....and this info will explain why. Think about it....as the government tells people how to eat, we just contnuially get fatter and fatter....obviously, the government info isn't working. But THIS diet does....and it's *easy*....uhhh...stop eating bread...stop making potatoes and rice...meat and veggies...easy peasy.

Seriously - take a look.

We eat a lot of sweet potatoes/yams/squash in lieu of potatoes. And once we started dropping weight, we eat potatoes on occasion, etc....but I really don't miss them at all.
Thanks for the unsolicited advertising.

Ok I know if heart disease runs in your family you want to limit the amount of red meat you eat. My father passed away from a heart attack and his mother had a stroke young, while that doesn't mean I'll have the same problems but I don't want to chance it either.

We (me and my husband) end up eating a lot of chicken, veggies, but either rice or potatoes normally. He kinda needs the carbs because of his job, but I'm thinking about cutting them out of my diet.
krellin (80 DX)
23 Jun 12 UTC
Not unsolicted, and not advertising. thatwasawkward when thatwasawkward misunderstood conversation and friendly advice for "advertising"....I'm healthier and want others to be the same if my experience can help them.
Celticfox (100 D(B))

I know someone else who's doing basically the same diet as Krellin. I think the only difference is there's more focus on leaner meats like fish and chicken then red meat.
Celticfox (100 D(B))
23 Jun 12 UTC
And personally my biggest fear is being like my father and dying to young from something I can solve with proper exercise and diet.
krellin (80 DX)
23 Jun 12 UTC
Carbs are good **IF** you are going to burn them. The web site I suggest talks about carb use by the body...talks about insulin spiking by excessive carbs, etc. Goes in to a lot of scientific into about that stuff.

Heart disease is **not** because of red meat. That's just simply a load of crap. For everyone that dies early of heart disease, i can find a farmer that lived off red meat and bacon and lived to 95...while smoking.

Lot of those "studies" are not accurately reported....also discussed on web site with many references.

YOU, my dear, are pretty much a sack of red meat....and you've heard the phrase "you are what you eat"....so...er....if you are red meat, what is *best8 for you to eat in order to kee your red meat red? Hmmm....RED MEAT...animal protein and fat.

Serously, Celtic --- if you care about your health, then take a few days -- not much at all -- to examine the info and make an informed decision. I was very skeptical....and then i consulted varous people....started doing it...and it's great.
Celticfox (100 D(B))
23 Jun 12 UTC
Oh I think I'm going to do the version I was talking about mainly because I love fish and don't mind mostly meats and veggies. It's just figuring out how to balance my diet verses what the husband eats. Now he does burn off the carbs at work and does like them. So it's some give and take.
krellin (80 DX)
23 Jun 12 UTC
Celtic....honestly, we changed out diet about 80% of the time....we still do carbs (pizza...yummmm) on occassion, and ice cream on a special night....can't totlaly deprive ourselves....but most of our dinners are protein and veggies (squash, sweet potatoes or yams)....same with lunch. Peeps that are going to burn a lot of energy *should* eat more carbs, because they *need* the easy energy source and their body will use it. I sit at a desk all day....so carbs are evil to me....just a source of fat....but if I **eat** fat, then my body will **burn** fat for energy...first the fat i eat, then the fat I have stored. If I carb-load...I will insulin rush so that my body STORES fat from the excess carbs I can't burn.

There is a whole science behind all this...very fascinating, actually. But you and your husband should probably eat a slightly different diet based upon your indications. Give and take...

What I like best is....protein and veggies is EASIER to make for dinner...no rice or potatoes, no bread....it's easier. AND....since I am now eating more protein, I am less hungry in general....protein is harder to digest, no insulin rush....no hunger pangs....so i don't snack at night. It's really fantastic.

www.marksdailyapple.com Give it a look.

I will. I think I did before and it looked a lot like what I was going to do anyways. I only include my husband so much because I do the cooking for the most part and don't want to make 2 different meals. So I'll problems do a nice meat, a side of rice or potatoes for him, a salad for me, and some steamed veggies. It'll be a lil more work but worth it.
No sane human who has seen the inside of a chicken abb eats chicken. Not in Australia anyway. Chicken - not just cheap, but *nasty*

krellin all sounds good but carbs for a diabetic of any sort need to be evaluated as to simple or complex and fast or slow to control blood sugar. I find the baked potato with margarine (not butter) and a touch of sour cream works well for keeping carbs in me while not spiking my sugar. Sweet potatoes *always* spike my sugar even when I make them at home without the brownsugar they use in restaurants. They just have too much fast and simple carbs in them.

There's no fucking way I'm ever giving up bread from my diet, even if it turns out to be more unhealthy than mainlining cyanide. it's just not going to happen.
@Bob G - I did the Atkins Diet a few years ago. After a couple of weeks I developed food cravings. I had cravings for bread, for spuds (potatoes), for rice, for CARBS! I couldn't believe it - I *needed* a slice of bread the way I *needed* a cigarette when I quit smoking (35 years ago).

It worked though. I lost 11lbs in the first week and 42lbs in 3 months. But then I went on the holiday I'd been dieting for - to the 'States! OMG the portion sizes over there! And the plate-covering steaks! And the enormous quantities of garlic prawns and crusty bread that just kept coming! <happy sigh>. Needless to say, I'm back to 270lbs again.

Oh and I'd choose Steak if it's good melts-in-the-mouth steak, followed by garlic prawns (got to be from Mocubar in Palma Nova though) and then chicken in the form of Chicken Madras with Pilau Rice and a Plain Naan from my local Indian takeaway.

<Damn it! I've just had to order a mouth-watering Indian takeaway.>

Too Rich for my Blood?
Hey. It seems like a lot of players are disinterested in playing matches where larger point values are at stake. I'm trying to understand this. Until I do, I'm curious what everyone views as an acceptable upper limit for betting? Obviously, most players would probably be okay with a 4-point buy in. But how about 24? 64? What do you feel is a comfortable betting range for an Anonymous match?

Resorting to pure chaos when the game is lost for you?
Leaving names out so it doesn't turn into a grudge battle, what do people think of simply unbalancing the game when your own position is unwinnable? This occurred in a match I played recently, and to me seems like a viable strategy, particularly in non-anonymous games. If a player has a reputation for being purely vindictive in defeat, that seems like a credible deterrent. Your thoughts?

How does the Pause Option Work.?
I'm in a game and one player has been called away unexpectedly. He has asked us to pause the game until his return. He selected Pause. As far as I can tell the clock on the game is still ticking and the FAQ is not too clear on the complete run-down.

Can one player pause the game or do a majority of players in the game have to select it as an option? I;ve issued orders in case the game does not pause for this movement phase.
