After your 10 are up they will be random. You'll always be skewed towards Russia, though. That's part of your account now.

Just so you know, Jeremiahg...you can be other powers. These people are all playing a joke on you. All games are random in who becomes which nation. All of your games in which you are Russia are that way by mere coincidence.

btw, they're all trolling you, its 100% random, the odds of getting russia 4 times in a row is slim, but can happen.

Not actually 100% random, they weight it so that you're less likely to get countries you've played recently, but they only take into account finished games.

It really is random. These trolls are only trolling you because you're new. There is a 1/2401 chance that you play as Russia in four straight games, if i did my math right.

iirc, it's not completely random. It weights your chances based on the history of your recently completed games. So, in your case, the odds are the will be getting different countries soon.

the allocation of countries is alledgedly random, but i did like some
of the "taking the piss" posts,
eg it's standard to get Russsia for your first 10 games etc.

Please see your run of getting Russia as an opportunity to learn how to better play
Russia & experiment a bit

I learnt from having a similar run, for a long time I was convinced that the best Russian
opening move was 3 south / 1 north, typically

army Moscow to Ukraine
army Warsaw to Galicia
fleet Sev to Black sea
fleet St P to Gulf of Bothnia.

but I had a horror run with Russia, and was getting pissed off with constantly being
bounced for Sweden by Germany & getting wiped out that I experiment'd with
Russian openings
I now like to play
army Moscow to Ukraine
fleet Sev to Black sea
fleet StP to Gulf of Bothnia
and army Warsaw to Silesia ( this is the change)

the thing I was doing was thinking in terms of two fronts, North and South.
what I have learnt is the are 3 fronts for Russia
North, South and the CENTRE
Russia cannot fight hard on all 3 fronts at the same time, which is where the
Diplomacy comes into play
Use Diplomacy in the south ( and North ) to allow Russia to attack in the Centre

Note, the country weighting is only for the Classic map, not for the Ancient Med or World maps. Also note that the country weighting is adjusted as of the start of a game. Otherwise if you had one country you were likely to be and started several games you would be likely to get that country too many times. But if the game is cancelled, that'll readjust your weightings back as if that game hadn't started.

Odds of your first three games all being the same country is 1 in 49 (not counting the country weighting). With 42,000+ registered users, you are just one of 850 or so lucky fellows that got the same country for their first three games. With the country weighting it should be a bit less likely but still, with as many people playing, it still happens.

also I would highly recommend not opening to Silesia ever

Follow Eden's advice. Opening Moscow to St. Petes is often much more effective

if you have a good alliance in the south though, ONLY if you have a good alliance in the south.
