Embedded Software Engineers in Michigan...
Hey there -- I'm in Technical Recruiting, and we are currently in *dire* need of guys that can do Embedded Software -- C++, atuomotive knowledge nice but not necessary....If you want to move to Michigan (or are already here...) and need work, send me a PM!
krellin (80 DX)

Yeah...that's *automotive*....er.....Hey I'm an Engineer (or used to be...) who graduated from Michigan State...so I doesn't has ta spell dat great...

Not my skill set, and I don't know anyone who fits, but a couple of questions that may sway people:

Contract or perm?
Relocation required, or is remote work possible?
krellin (80 DX)
23 Dec 11 UTC
Primarily we have Direct Hire openings with Tier 1 automotive suppliers.
Relocation is required -- generally you are coding up embedded s/w, testing Harware-in-loop, interfacing with clients...not a remote-type job.

Believe it or not, the Supplier base in Detroit is going through an Engineering hiring BOOM right now, because so many comapnies fired their talent during the economic downturn, now they are desperate to hire it back. A lot of our work is in the "integrated center stack" area...audio/infotainment/navigation/hvac all integrated into the console, multi-module communication, wireless integration with cell phones and other devices with voice activation. High tech stuff.
"If you want to move to Michigan" -- that says it all. :p

It would be frightening to find out I knew Krellin, since I too went to Michigan State (1991-1995)

Wow Sacred...how sad that you won't ever let an opportunity slide to attack. I'm trying to help people here...you know, bad economy, people looking for work, etc...But you gotta be a dick and insult me? Seriously...get a life.

Hey Krellin, could you PM me your contact so I can maybe forward you my resume? Thanks for posting the opportunity !
SacredDigits (102 D)

*shrug* wasn't trying to be insulting, I meant more that the "small world principle" scares me. I clearly, though, see how that wasn't clear.

Too bad no tempting and not contract. I'd do it on contract from Cincinnati but I have a great job and have no intention of moving any time soon.
krellin (80 DX)
24 Dec 11 UTC
Sacred....if you did not mean to be insulting, then I apologize for assuming it to be so. Fact is....you were but a wet-behind-the-ears-whelp that I wouldn't have wasted my time with by the time you finally got there....

But if you ever "dropped" and saw a ghost in the bell tower on Holloween, we may have something to talk about...

If you ever drank...er....shared....a shark bowl....then we have something to talk about....

If you ever watched a nobody band at Rick's and heard them on the radio some time later....we can talk...

Threw rocks into the Red Cedar to watch the ripples...

Sat on a rock next to the Red Cedar with a girl who would become your wife after walking through the gardens....then we have something to talk about...

Ever had to pay a "beer tax" to your RA because you were too wild....or too many fumes were escaping under the door....then we can talk....

If you ever laughed at the moron stuck in the engineering labs late on Friday night as you packed up to head out to the 'Shark....then we can talk....

If you ever made out with a freshman in the study lounge after mindnight, we should talk....

If you ever drove a girl you just met home on your scooter bacause her asshole friends wouldn't talk her home across campus...and then married her....then let's talk...

If you dream about El Eztaco, an wonder why nobody in your home town can make a nacho....then I probably agree with you, becaseu El Ez SUCKS now....when they were a hole-in-the-wall restaurant in a basement, they were AWESOME...

If you have ever bought a single smoke from Campbell's Smoke Shop....the best smelling store in eternity....we should talk...

I lived in Brody...Helll...

I live in Campbell Hall....ivory covered paradise....freak and geeks....where my mind expanded beyond normal existence...

I lived in a house I rented with friend right behind Harrison Road House....which is where some drunk asshole stole ym scooter the one night I didn't lock it up...

I saw visions of jellyfish in the sky in a certain state of mind at MSU...

I fell in love...

I thought I might kill a girl once who said she was pregnant...but wasn't...

I became an "Officer At Large" of the MSU Democrats because I met a hot chick at a free dinner my best friend invivted me to....he was a Dem at athe time...and is now arch conservative...She swallowed....who WOULDN'T convert for that, eh???? Then she stopped returning my calls, and I became a Republican again...

Wells Hall....Wells Hell...

We used to be able to climb the fire escapes to the tops of buildings and smoke a bowl on top of the campus....you can't do that anymore....

We used to get baked and skate liek madmen...roller blades....I owned the first when they cam out...and used to ride the elevators to the tops of parking structures....you knwo the "habittrail...." the hampster house in East Lansing? And then skate at top speed down the parking ramps....crazy ass We-ought-to-die shit...

I sat in the guy's house where I used to buy 1/4 ounces and played chess with him while the Gulf War....number 1....was announced on TV....I watched a war errupt while smoking a bong with my chess partner...how fucking wile is that...

God damn how I miss Michigan State University. That best....the absolute best time of my life, without a doubt...

Sacreddigits....I hope to god we have more in common than you can admit...Otherwise, you wasted your education...

DRAUG....*MOST* of our positions are DIRECT HIRE with Tier 1 suppliers. Never hurts to looks, brother. In fact, I encourage people to say 'No" to a job AFTER I talk to them if it isn't right for them....I'm not a "head hunter"....I'm a "consultant"....I want to make my client happy....and I want to see people advance their careers...their LIVES...for the better.

Talk to me...send me your resume...and if there is no match, so be it. But what if there is?
got my dream job krellin. and its awesome ;)

I never went to Michigan State but often visited a friend there...I know the habitrail and El Azteco. <- damn good mexican food. Been to Bilbo's ...and did some other things that I don't remember. And that's all I got. carry on...
krellin (80 DX)

GOOD GOD!!!! BILBO'S!!!! Darwyn....I think I love you! Went there with my then girlfriend...now wife...once...Ordered pizza. It was *dry as shit*....turned out the chef was so stoned he forgot to put on the pizza sauce! But if you ever had the munchies, *nothing* could beat an order to Hobbti Stix! And, over the year, my blessed wife has damn near perfect not just the hobbit stix, but the dipping sauce!

@Santa....errrrr...uh....I'm happy....uh...happy....for you...and....errrr....doubtful...

"Sat on a rock next to the Red Cedar with a girl who would become your wife after walking through the gardens....then we have something to talk about..."

That was my wife and I's first date. And El Azteco was absolutely better when it was in the basement. And yes, Bilbo's Hobbit Stix were fucking fantastic. I'll have to figure out that dipping sauce recipe some time in the future, because it was grand. They still exist in Kalamazoo, and every time we pass by I think about finding them.

There's more there that we have in common, but I've got limited time today, familial obligations. I'd love to reminisce more, I love East Lansing like it used to be, and not like it is now.
be doubtful, enjoy the cubicle

Holiday Pausing
I know a lot of games will have many people requesting pauses for Christmas and New Years. Please try to honor these pauses, as it isn't unexpected. Also, when requesting, please put an end date, so we don't have to deal with all the mod emails about it...

The Greatest Threat To Us All
The greatest danger to us all is the fear of failure.
It's that simple. Without failure to identify the errors individuals and society make total disaster becomes a real possibility.
Embrace failure because failure alone tells us where the edge of the cliff lies

Point Loaning has been discontinued
I'm not exactly sure how this policy started, but the mods will no longer be transferring points between players. If you need points to play in a tournament, we will still give them to you. It's just too much of a hassle and completely undermines the point system.

eBooks and Christmas
So, as you may know, I'm a big proponent of eBooks. However, about half the gifts I'm giving this year are still traditional books. This is partly because a lot of people still don't have ereaders, but partly because giving ebooks seems wicked lame. In fact, for those I know have ereaders, I've avoided giving them books in either form.
