This site and problems with my mousewheel and typing
My mousewheel often does not work on this site (as in most of the time - although as I write it seems to be working). My other problem is that most of the time I can't type. I start typing and then it just stops working. To solve the problem I have to open notepad or shift focus to another window, , and then I can resume typing (but sometimes only a few words).
Am I the only one? I use Firefox 3.6 and my operating system is XP.

3 vs. 2 tactics question (game theory?)
I encountered roughly the situation below in a realtime game. Is my analysis (Below) correct?

Privacyseeker (200 D)

Situation:
Spring Move
Russia
F Bla
A Con
A Arm

Turkey
F Smy
A Ank

All neighboring spaces are empty and will remain so.

Seems like best Russian move vs. all possible defenses is:
A Arm - Ank
F Bla S A Arm-Ank
A Con S A Arm-Ank

This destroys the army in Ank vs. any defense except
A Ank-Con
F Smy S A Ank-Con.

Even in that case, A Arm-Ank succeeds, A Con retreats to Bul and the next turn F Bla supported by both armies wins. So Russia is guaranteed to conquer turkey in 3 turns.

The other viable attack
A Con-Ank
A Arm S A Con-Ank
F Bla S A Con-Ank

Wins vs. the A Ank-Con defense and conquers turkey in 2 turns but loses (badly) to
A Ank S F Smy-Con
F Smy - Con

which is actually a better position for Turkey than the start!

Should Russia always then move A Arm-Ank with 2 supports (in which case should Turkey always move A Ank-Con with support, which fails vs. all other attacks) or should he randomize in some way?

diplomacy should be used to throw th eprobably off, guessing on the risk-aversion of your enemy based on previous play can also be takne into account - if there is no rush to resolve the situation then.

how and ever:

Russia
A arm - smy
F bla s A Con - Ank
A Con - Ank

vs
Turkey
F smy - con
A Ank S F Smy-Con

Leaves turkey with fleet Con, and A Ank retreats to Arm.
(in spring this is followed by F bla - sev, Ank and Smy multually supporting; in fall turkey loses a unit)

Russia
A arm - smy
F bla s A Con - Ank
A Con - Ank

vs
Turkey
A Ank-Con
F Smy S A Ank-Con.

and turkey loses.

What i saw recently(in a one-on-one game) was 3 vs 4:
France:
Kiel, Ruhr S Berlin - Munich

Austria:
Silesia S Boh - Munich
Prussia S Munich - Berlin

mistakes like this are tactical blunders in my opinion, but you can win games diplomatically even with them.

The N Word
I'm taking a course on the American Civil War. Today in class, a student said the N word as part of of quote. My (Black) professor and some other black students got very defensive. I personally was shocked someone would say it, even as a quote. So, what do people think? Is it ever appropriate to use, and if not, are there other words that are never appropriate? Please include your country, as I suspect that might make a difference.

World Game
There's a world game going on where a fairly large power has left. I was wondering if anyone wanted to take over? =) It shouldn't cost too much, the buy in was only 5. Should be fun!

What Happens? Help Please
Hello, I have a quick question before I finalize my move in this game:
http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=21400

I'm turkey, and I'm working on taking out Austria. What happens If I move Budapest to Vienna supported by Galicia, but he moves vienna to Budapest supported by trieste (assume serbia support is cut)? Is it a bump? Thanks!
