DON'T PLAY IT!!!

Those games have SERIOUS bugs, and certain countries- like Russia, USA, Brazil, Libya have unfair advantages over the others. So unless you can guarantee that you will be one of the above countries, you'll lose your points GUARANTEED

Well, in the regular map, getting austria or russia almost invariably means certain doom. Unless you are an amazing diplomat, that is.

i have won as Austria, and so i don't see the prob there....
but in mod variant- europe for eg, has 2 fleets and an army and can only get ONE new sc by end of first yr, while russia is guaranteed 3...

thats ONE prob...
and its unbalanced like that as well, so as i said unless u are one of the lucky countries, you are CERTAINLY doomed before starting.
I am playing 2 games- one as Argentina, and one as Europe... noth not gowing anywhere, and same results with USA/RUSSIA etc seeming to do extraordinarily well

I'm about to get my third Austrian win. And I've won thrice with Russia as well... I'm only above average, I'm not great yet. They are a fun challenge though.

well. it's still something of a different favor than classic...it's the only variant we have here so far. I kind of want goondip to come back!

Actually, I love playing austria, too. But I am more the type that can't play russia. (Hence, my joys that no one tried to defend that).

I also really like austria. Most of the games i have won are with austria i believe :)

Well I am playing one world map so far, but a good hint is: talk to everyone ;-]

but it's kind of fun, because it's actively pressed. unlike some games, where no one ever talk...

i adore france =D austria is my second favor. i hate turkey. played turkey 3 times, got defeated the first 4 years in all 3 games...

thats not the case Idealist- perhaps in an ideal world, yes... but in realism- i have drawn the same country consecutively in games, so it doesn't work that way

well you never know mel until you try.

Here's one more thing: at two days per phase, you're not going to finish that game until 2011. With so many players, you are bound to have people missing turns, which means every single turn will take the FULL two days.

Oh, and for what it's worth, I think Libya sucks in this game (but Kenya is good).

that's not true. the 2 turn phase is meant for absences in case of emergencies. it won't necessarily take so long to finish. i am in one right now, it's going decently.
