GoonDiplomacy is back up, though I use that term loosely; currently you can register and chat on the forum, but cannot get a game to work. They are still working out some issues.
I cannot dedicate all the time I have to webdiplomacy anymore. I am glad to finish any games I am in right now but would like a replacement for the leauge games I am in. I will play in the world cup but for the forseeable future that is my last game at least for a while.

I have less free time in my life now (which is a good thing: more money), so I'm going to stop playing Diplomacy online, at least for a while. But I had a great time here, and I'm grateful to all of you, especially my opponents in games, the fellows in the interesting discussion threads, and of course Kestas for making this all possible.
I've been asked to advertise following game on behalf of some players in it. Turkey and France in civil disorder both with all their own supply centres. He who dares.....
I've seen board where each member has a 'Exalt/Smite' button that raises and lowers their karma. A simpler, less intrusive way for people to tell the community how they feel about a certain member. May be easier that the full-blown reports.
let's get real here. goondip *was* webdip, with changes. webdip, by definition, is going to be a more stable platform. That doesn't mean zero downtime - unless you want to get together a hell of a lot of money for: two more servers for development and test environments a team of testers with a rigorous methodology to locate and identify defects (which, let me tell you, is a colossal pain in the ass as well as being boring as hell), a salary for Kestas to concentrate full effort in development
... you're just going to have to be satisfied with the (free!) entertainment you get
Speaking of salary...is it possible to donate anywhere?
Also I would really like an Android app. At work I can't really get onto webdip but sometimes I have breaks and I'd like to play. Any chances of that happening?
Well said Strat :D As he implies, the site doesn't have the funds for that. Moreover I don't know what the problem is, but many problems are unavoidable.
I don't know if it is needed, but is Kestas looking for any volunteers for testing? While I don't know what would be involved, I would be willing to help in any way I could.
Aside from the donation link you mention, has selling advertising space on the site ever been suggested for generating revenue to cover operating costs?
I'm not complaining about down time, rather moaning about the loss of goondip. I don't know how it was in the days, but downtimes were actually shorter on goondip than these recent ones we've had here, though I can understand if this is the result of starting to add variants to this site.
Unfortunately Dreamhost has been having problems due to an attack on its system, the server load was at 700+ earlier :-( They say it has been resolved now, and the server detected the downtime and time was added to games to compensate for it etc
Re: goondip.com it is a shame that it's down, but apparently someone will be continuing it on at some point

Thanks for that. The built in browser for Android works fine generally also, but, it feels a bit flaky compared to what a dedicated android app may be able to accomplish!

Each Bond has all the gadgets HE ever used at HIS disposal (so no rocket packs for Dalton and no vanishing cars for Craig.)
