I personally think the best is Jeremy Brett's version for everything- Brett's the best Holmes, David Burkey and Edward Hardwicke are both excellent Watsons (and very alike at times... occasionally, if I miss the credits, I might not be able to tell you which one is playing Watson), whoever they had to play Mrs. Hudson really is the only actress I've seen to make that character interesting... and the sets are great.

Jeremy Brett IS Holmes.

(And a fun fact- did you know that that's Brett in the role of Freddie in the Rex Harrison-Audrey Hepburn film version of "My Fair Lady?" He looks so young there in comparison to Holmes, but that's him... but the replaced his singing voice- shame.)
