Last Live Game (for me anyway)
Anyone interested in a live game? It would be 20 D WTA with all other rules normal. I'm saying goodbye to live games after this to focus on normal games and my GR. Would 5 of 10 minute phases be better?

Multi-accounting report e-mails
Just a note to those of you who have reported multi-accounters but not heard back yet; the mod team currently has a backlog of multi-account e-mails, but all info is logged so bans can be made in future and the multi-account detector code is going to be made much more automatic, so the pressure can be taken off the mod team.

And there are several other people in the game, should you disclose up front that you know the person, or is that making you both a target? In this particular case, we have no intention of working together.

The Diplomacy Player Species
there are many types of diplomacy players. You might even call them species. Come up with a latin name for different type of players and a description of what they are like. this could become entertaining (latin does not have to be real)

Diplomaticus Vulpini - Another powerful species. Whilst not as formidable as their cousins Argentio Linguista, these species are still very dangerous. Moreover, they tend to be less conspicous, making use of their incredibly stealthy manerisms and often working under the radar of their prey who focus on the more visual threats. Indeed, when in the presence of other great Diplomats they frequently assist the prey by disclosing and uncovering the foes plots and plans, working their way in towards their victims, often unsuspecting Novusan Cruorea.

Gullibulus unum - diplomacy player who believes every word of what all the other players tell him - even when the messages contradict each other. He does not willingly do so, but his subsequent confusion and ineptitude makes him easy prey.

Fornicatum Arsus - one who is so willing to believe what his neighbor says, that he leaves his home SCs unprotected and is then shocked to find them under new leadership. However, this species differs from gullibulus unum since they seem to willingly bend over and take it.

golden toungue = argentio linguista? -@figles

multus fidelissiumus ignavus.

Very trusting idiot who lets you and even encourages you to move to positions that give you a perfect stab opportunity and are then surprised when you stab.

Well, obviously the names I picked aren't the precise latin translations of the words, tried to make them 'feel' a little better, but yes that was my intention. The other one is a little harder to work out I realised (and someone who knows latin will probably find a better translation to use), but the definition should help solve it

Copious Copias pastus - a species who loves to copy and paste others messages to pass on to 3rd parties, or claims to anyway.

Maniac (189 D(B))
11 Dec 09 UTC
Mucho Addicticus - Players who check their games before breakfast, sometimes in the middle of the night and are often amazed that when they report their success in gaining Tyrolia to people in the real world that they are seldom greeted as returning heroes.

Oversoul Drama- Players which love to send you messeges which seem over ditailed. They would call you a sultan and ask you to move your cavlery to a pinser move. They are fun to play with, but most of us are too lazy for writing "Good afternoon your haighnesty, I would love to join the power of our Empires to defeat those brutall armys of the evil Czar of the East. Our forces shall attack the city of Warsow from both the West and the South, the heavy snow shall make the army trapped inside to surrander in a few weeks"", so we simply send them a message saying "Move to WAR and I will support you".

Not respectively...

Diligo Silentius, aka Tactacia Obscurius - One that will always go for the rare or strange option, often rejecting more favorable options just for a more interesting scenario. May be seen leading tripple alliances, paradox's and rarely opens with a common gambit, other than frequently attempting Keyhole lepanto.
Draugnar (0 DX)
11 Dec 09 UTC
Gunboatius Violatum Ignoramus - a player who violates Gunboat by talking about their game on the forum and doesn't understand why it is wrong.
djbent (2572 D(S))

it is unclear at this time if these species belong to the same genus of Diplomaticus Vulpini and Argentio Linguista or are actually subspecies of the one of these.

Fastosus Falsus Maximus - an extremely skilled diplomacy player who regularly says he or she is "not that good a player really" or just "goes with the flow," in a shoddy attempt to hide extremely crafty plans and wicked stabs.

Crimen Advoco Resumius - a conniving player who repeatedly accuses you of multi gaming against him or her as a ploy to make you feel guilty and soften yourself up for a stab by the crimen advoco resumis. never underestimate the power of guilt.

Dirigo Dulciseri - the consummate diplomacy player, who manages to convince others to follow his or her lead in both peace and war by way of sweet talk, guile, and flattery. this cunning creature is the type that you will gladly follow to your doom, much like the sirens of yore.
figlesquidge (2131 D)
11 Dec 09 UTC
Oooh true. It may be noted that Crimen advoco Maximus has a subspecies Crimen Advoco Hippocratius, which is itself guilty of all the claims made of you
LanGaidin (1509 D)

@ djb - the third one sounds very, very familiar....just tell me where you want me to send my armies; they're yours:)
djbent (2572 D(S))
11 Dec 09 UTC
Oh yes, thank you Dr. Figle for that note, it's a very important one.

@LG - i see you have been caught by the Dulciseri's tentacles... ;D
Draugnar (0 DX)
11 Dec 09 UTC
I thought the third was actually Dulciseri Jugularis of the genus Bent-um.
djbent (2572 D(S))
11 Dec 09 UTC
i think you're confused Draugnar, genus Bent-um is another animal all together, exemplified by the Dulciserat Inculpatus - which on paper is sometimes confused with the Dirigo Dulciseri, but in person is quite a different story. The Dulciserat Inculpatus (Genus Bentum) is a a loyal and humorous ally, who you can count on to be looking out for your best interests at all times, and is unlikely to stab you or deceive you.
figlesquidge (2131 D)
11 Dec 09 UTC
A common misconception Draugnar :P

There are a large variety of similar species that inhabit anonymous diplomacies. They are similar to standard diplomacy players, although have variations normally associated with nocturnal animals. They are generally more paranoid, with fewer inhibitions, and use a highly developed vocabulary to compensate for reduced visual information. It doesn't take long for a "standard" diplomatic species to evolve across, and this is normally signified by removing the dot and point score from names, or indeed the name itself.

Other species have evolved in the other way, and inhabit a world devout of sound, making use of just visual stimulus. As a result they tend to use greatly exaggerated orders to convey emotion and intent. They inhabit a twilight world known colloquially as "gunboat". As a result these species tend to belong to the genus "Telmus navis"
