most influential/powerful/awesome empire in history
We all appreciate a good empire right? Discuss which empire is/was so influential, powerful, or just generally badass.

Meta Diplomacy - Third commentary thread
The second thread fell off the board. As Linda Richman would say...

Talk amongst yourselves. I'll give you a topic. The Meta Diplomacy game is neither Meta nor Diplomacy. Discuss.

Non Fiction Adventure books
Anyone have any good suggestions? Two of my favorites are 'In the Heart of the Sea' by Nathianiel Philbrick and a book about Shackleton (unfortunately there are many of them and I can't remember which I read). I like reading about explorers and any book where people end up eating each other ;)
I think this was the book on Shackleton I read.

Any of the books about the Uruguayan Rugby team's plane crash in 1972 are excellent, but I enjoyed "They Lived on Human Flesh" the most, if you can find it. Also, Nando Parrado's "Miracle in the Andes" is an outstanding book. He was one of the survivors of the ill-fated flight.

I heartily recommend the following adventure-filled biographical work:

"Captain Marryat: Seaman, Writer and Adventurer" by Tom Pocock (2000)

Batavia's Graveyard by Mike Dash is an excellent read. It's about a Dutch ship that gets wrecked in the Indian Ocean in the 17th century. The man leading the survivors was a psychopath.
Yes, Batavia's Graveyard was excellent! I also highly recommend that one.
"Red Watch" by Gordon Honeycombe - Amazon précis: "this is the best selling story of the London firemen who fought a fatal blaze at the Worsley Hotel, London. It is a true story of raw courage and determination".

"Escape from Colditz" by Pat Reid - one of the prisoners of war held there in WWII.

"Apollo 13:Lost Moon" by Jim Lovell, the mission commander. The film was based on this book.

"The Innocent Man" by John Grisham. the true story of murder and small town justice gone horribly wrong. [I like Grishams fiction stories so I didn't read the blurb on the back of the book and was half way through before I realised this was a true story. Grisham is an excellent writer].

I hope you enjoy these stories as much as I did.

Not technically an adventure more an autobiography of a women who has had a "different" childhood and turbulent early adulthood: Infedel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali.

A rules question about Supporting Troops
Question for all. Hypothetical. Paris attacks Gascony with Brest supporting Paris -> Gascony. And Picardy hold supports Brests.
If English Channel -> Brest does this brake the support of Brests to (Paris-> Gascony)

Can a mod please unpause these games?
diplomat1824 & his alias Problem_Solver each were in one. The phase was right about over when they were banned so I think most players won't check for awhile.
