On the one hand, the game isn't over and it is a bit of bad form to comment on a game that hasn't finished, in that game's public press, in a way which could, feasibly, influence that game.
On the other hand, you guys could have just used the Global tab for your press instead of using the public forum. This leads me to believe that your press was intended for public viewing and entertainment, and, as such, public commentary is to be expected.
To sum up... In my opinion, you have the right to be a little annoyed, but probably moreso in form than in actuality. I think this is a "raise your fist in the air and wave it around for a few seconds, then forget about it" kind of scenario.

if its global tab - i'd say its part of the game (as in it happens) though it should not be (and in FTF ppl sometimes to get ticked off)...

the best bet is to ask kindly for the person in question not to comment.

however - rratclif - in a 'regular press' game - its really bad form not to respond at all to an in-game message... specially in 1901... particularly when you are fine commenting on the forum =P j/k

The reason why press intensive public press games have to be held in the forum is simply a space issue, there just isn't enough room in the global tab.

Since we neglected to ask people not to post, I don't think we have any cause for alarm. However, since it obviously bothers you, I have no problem enforcing it from this point forward.

Personally, when we didn't mention it, I was kind of hoping that people would post to spice up the game, but I can see why other players wouldn't like that.

I reckon rratclif is not overreacting at all. I have to say it really annoys me to see the comments by someone not in the game interfering. You shouldn't need to tell people at the start of the thread that posting is restricted to the players in the game it's just a courtesy/common sense issue.

I was thoroughly enjoying watching the game progress and all outsiders interferring does is ruin the game and discourage others from running public games especially when the interferring is not just light comments but unwarranted attacks on one of the players.

Sorry, but I am new here and have to ask....what is "press" and where is it available to the public? I only see this forum and the global tab when you are actually in a game. I don't see any other place for the general public to read, comment, or generate "press" on ongoing games. What am I missing? Thanks...

@greendjinn - you're not missing anything. public press games are held here on the forum because the global chat tab will lose messages.

There's a thread called "We know all your secrets... (PP)", this is my first game of this sort but it's a lot of fun.
