unpause please
fun game-3 got paused due to the banning of a member, and now 1 player who only has 1 SC left has still not unpaused, several days later. The player who was banned has already been eliminated from our game, so there is no rational reason for the pause, so can something be done about this?

Cfoss game threat
Just received this message from a Icthys who is playing Turkey in two games("The last patrol" and "Five Dollar Milkshake") I'm in. I asked why he moved against me in one and he replied:
"It is a waste. This is bargaining chip. Back-off me in the other game or I'll eliminate you from this one."
What do I do to get him removed?

Bernanke on 60 Minutes
It was a good interview, a breath of fresh air from the masses of people crying socialism and calling for the gold standard. A lot less of a puff piece than the Greenspan interview

Not sure why this is happening. If I have my speakers on you hear continuous clicks for the page being refreshed over and over.

going CD vs being defeated
Am i right in saying that ....

Am i right in saying that if you go CD then a "defeated" is not registered on your stats? that's seems wrong if it is the case.

and to these people who see going CD as just part of regular game play...grrrrrrr

hope next ghost ratings wil have a healthy penalty for people going CD. what really annoys me is when i see that they continue playing other games they are going better in.

You can't CD and play other games. CD only occurs when you don't log on to the site for 2 order phases. Mearly not entering orders isn't enough to CD someone.
kestasjk (95 DMod(P))

That's not true wooo, we remove players from games that they aren't playing so that hopefully others will take their place. Unfortunately people do leave games sometimes, and we try to make the best of it by letting others take over

Also it is marked as a defeated if the game ends while you're in CD, but not if someone takes your spot over. Also you'll lose all your points, and the other players will gain those points, so CD players tend to have fewer points

In the next version it tracks when you go CD, so that it can display how many times someone has gone CD, know when someone lost a game simply because they were taking over a CD, and generate more accurate stats about games

Ah didn't know mods remove players when they stop entering orders. The system doesn't do it on its own though, correct?
kestasjk (95 DMod(P))

Yup it happens by itself after you go for 2 turns without entering orders (or just 1 turn if you only have 1 unit)

But in the profile you don't see defeated, but you see "left".
I think it should be considered more humilliating than defeated, as in most cases the person didn't have the "balls" to assume that lost!

Finish what you started, don't bail and give up. If you are close to defeat you can alway try and talk your way into a survived or draw. That is a victory in itself if you ask me.

If anything, try to make you attacker's advance as difficult as possible.

If I can slow a player who stabs me down to the point where someone else is able to take advantage of him, or beat him to the win, then I come away with a moral victory in defeat.

Of course, sometimes there is no moral victory, and you just have to take your lumps. Such is life.
dangermouse (5551 D)
16 Mar 09 UTC
@Troondonte - Yup. And I'd prefer to see the "left" category remain as it's even worse than a defeat. Of course, we need to make sure that the win percentage calculations treat a CD as a defeat.
fortknox (2059 D)

I thought there was a 'left' stat. And, to me, having a 'left' stat is far worse than a defeated stat.

Yeah, sometimes we can't help it when life gets in the way, but too many people go CD for no good reason...

A bit frustrating...
It seems I always do worse in games where I make an attempt to have actual communication and send messages with some meat in them. It's starting to look like other players only really respond to sound bites, and one or two sentence messages. Any thoughts?
