Bugs and gamesmanship
I have just "won" No CD Allowed
http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=3963

I was able to do this because the system did not act on a draw request. I kept on playing (as Italy) and my opponent (Austria) missed a turn.

Is what I did wrong or good play? What is the general feeling regarding the explotation of bugs in the system? Should players it if they can or is it bad form?

Civil Disorders
I've noticed that when when countries go into civil disorder no one usually takes them over, especially when they only have 1,2, or 3 SC's left...

Your move from Venice seems to point to Rome.

sorry: "seems to point to Tuscany instead of Rome"

Yeah, these problems do seem to come up very occasionally and I'm just not sure if simple mistakes are being made from time to time or if this is actually a bug

The thing is if it is a bug it's really hard to think what could cause it. Orders are addressed via an ID unique to an order, and the different parts are modified using the full territory names. How orderForm[12345][toTerr]="Rome" could get changed to orderForm[12345][toTerr]="Tuscany" I don't know, or how a different user could end up modifying the same order.
And why would it be Tuscany, the territory that would have been right below Rome on the list of choices? If it was Sweden then it'd be more clearly a bug.

Anyway I'll be releasing 0.8 soon so it can be checked over, and I'm more familiar with my copy here, so I'll wait and see if any more cases like these have any clues

why not let people see there moves for the last round? then we could verify whether it was a codng error or a mistake.

Global Press Game?
How about a game where only Global chat is allowed, that is, no secret messages between players. However, this would be different from a no press game, as communication between players about strategy and tactics would be allowed on the Global tab, for all ears to hear. Is this a stupid idea, or would there be people interested in playing? And, for this type of game, I think WTA would be best, with a fairly low pot. How 'bout it?

48 hour turns
please? as an option maybe. I joined disturbia, missed my turn by like 15 minutes, and now will definitely lose(I was probably going to anyway, since 3 of my 4 neighbors invaded, but it'd have been nice to have two more armies).

New Ranking System
I'm sure this has been posted sometime before.

What if, instead of using points, rank was based on either;
a) a gross number of points won, or
b) a figure computed by multiplying win and survival percentage with total games played. Wins would, of course, be weighted more than survivals, which would be weighted based on number of supply centers.

Support Rule Clarification
Let us assume I control countries A and B, and am attacking country C.

If A support holds B, and B attacks C but gets bounced, is B defended by 1 or 2? By that I mean that if D and E support each other on an attack into B, do they succeed?

Draw Request for GFDT 2007 Finals
Isn't it just right to have the finals of the first ever GFDT end in a 17/17 draw?

Well that is how Abab and I felt about it anyhow.

Without our teamwork and our Slow and Steady approach to the final round we would have been under the boot of the other great players who took part in the finals.

I'd like to thank all the other players who made it to the finals for making it one of the greatest games I've ever played in.

A special thanks to thewonderllama for

questions about this site
These questions relate to play on this site only.
1. What happens if a player fails to submit orders in the various stages:
main order stage,
retreats and disbandments, and
adjustments?
In other words at what point does the country go into civil disorder?

2. Is it possible to play a no-press game, if so how?
