To The Tune of "Vincent" by Don McLean
Think I have it right
Paint the map light blue today
Look out Spain, I’m on my way
With plans for taking Belgium by the fall.
Shadows on the hills
German boots on daffodils
Crushing dreams of early builds
In spite of all my best laid evil plans.
Now I understand
what you tried to say to me
How you didn’t want that dmz
How you needed that sc
I would not listen, I did not know how
Too late to listen now
So much for tonight
Flaming fires that brightly blaze
Swirling clouds of smoking haze
Reflect in France’s eyes of china blue
Colors changing hue
Black troops marching on the plains
“Deustchland Uber Alles” their refrain
serenaded as we make our final stand.
For I could not fool you
your strategy was true
And when no hope was left inside
on that starry, starry night
You made that stab as Germans often do
Saying “I could have told you, Frenchman
This map was never meant
for one as gullible as you.”
I thought I had it right
plans for conquest, rise and fall
dossiers, reports and all
With eyes toward all the sc’s I would get
Like the players that I've met
Like MadMarx or el_maestro,
Like peterwiggin, but here I go
I’m crushed and waiting for the final blow
Now I think I know
what you tried to say to me
How you didn’t want that dmz
How you needed that sc,
I would not listen, I’m not listening still
Perhaps, I never will
