ISIL using chlorine gas?
http://america.aljazeera.com/articles/2014/10/24/iraq-isil-chlorine.html

What do you guys think? Is chlorine gas too archaic and ineffective to care about, or is the use of chlorine gas by ISIL significant/pertinent to the issue?

The London...Whats? An NFL Team for London Town?
http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/american-football/29728155 " Chancellor George Osborne says the UK government will support plans for a London-based NFL team"
For all I know, Osborne could be blowing smoke...but even if it didn't (doesn't) happen--suggestions, real or for fun, for a London NFL team name? :p

London SFC. We don't need shit gimmicks in a desperate attempt to attract fans.

Octavious (2701 D)

This is not Osborne's idea, by the way. Elements of the NFL have been pushing for this for some time in a desperate attempt to generate more interest in an increasingly stagnant industry. Apparently selling home supporters down the river by holding several games in foriegn nations isn't enough.

I would be ok with international teams in Mexico or Canada, mainly because there wouldn't be a time lag for visiting clubs. Unlike in London (or anywhere else in Europe) where teams would have a significant disadvantage whilst crossing the pond.
Call it the London Logistical Nightmares.

Seriously, as much as I love the NFL (ever since C4 started covering it in the UK), a London team is a really really really REALLY dumb idea.

I wanna see the London Red Coats play the New England Patriots...

...in period uniforms.

Just for the hell of it...let's see how well Tom Brady throws in that kind of getup. ;)

I think a London NFL team would be cool...AND a Toronto team...AND an LA team.

The Jaguars never should've been put into Jacksonville, that state is saturated already with the Gators, Seminoles, Dolphins, and Buccaneers, ALL of which have been way more successful attracting fans and winning games.

Jacksonville's who's played in London the longest...and I think the logistical nightmares could be overcome (we already have guys playing on short rest for Thursday Night Football, and then a day longer rest for Monday Night Football, we could figure this out.)

The easiest fix would be to move the Jaguars to London, and move the Miami Dolphins into the AFC South to fill the void, since London would obviously have to be the East (you're not moving any NFC/AFC North teams, Lions, Packers, Bears, Vikings, Steelers, Bengals, Ravens, or Browns.) Sucks to break up the divisional rivalry between the Jets and Dolphins, but eh, neither have had a HUGE clash...

They're not Bears/Packers or Cowboys/Redskins or anything like that.

The Rams might move back to Los Angeles...the Raiders also might...

Of the two, I'd rather it be the Rams, as they were first and for way longer than the Raiders.

And then, since the NFL always likes to have cities as leverage to force cities to build stadiums...you give up London or LA, but you gain St. Louis and Toronto, two viable targets, and gain the TV markets for Los Angeles AND most of England (not like the London Whatevers will have any on-the-Island competition fighting for TV rights.)

Also, London Fog would be odd, since there are no singular names like that in the NFL, they're all plural.

Then again, there are no teams based outside the US, either, so...

+1 London Calling, lol...

Though if we go with Putin's apparently thinking every NFL player is a wifebeater...

They then couldn't really play "I Fought the Law (And the Law Won," could they?
+1 to obi for the London Red Coats. I was going to suggest something like the Old English Loyalists for when they play the Pats

For the record, London had an American Football team in the 1990s, which was called the London Monarchs.
Jamiet99uk (808 D)

The Monarchs played in the now-defunct NFL Europe, alongside the Scottish Claymores, Frankfurt Galaxy, Barcelona Dragons, etc.

Yo. I've been semi-retired for a while now, but I wanna play some games. One will be strictly highest GR, and the second will be anyone, witH preference to people who seem fun. Both will be semi-anon, WTA, full press. 36 or 48 hours, full press, so state your preference in the signups.

NFL Pick 'em Week 8: Arriving at the Midway Point...
And so we come to mid-season, with the Cowboys, Chargers, Cardinals and Broncos riding high, the Saints and Bears both plummeting to earth, and a bunch of teams stuck in the middle. We kick off the week tonight with a Thursday match which should actually be good for a change, the Chargers and Broncos in a clash for the lead in the AFC West. The Lions and Falcons play in London, Bengals/Ravens, Panthers/Seahawks...pick 'em!

Autumn Disbands, Fast Retreats
New players take heed: Sometimes is is advantageous to disband dislodged units in Autumn. You can rebuild them where they may be more useful. This is particularly useful in the Modern Diplomacy map where all SCs are considered home SCs.

Picking order or purely random
I was wondering if there is a mechanism, by which players are selected for certain powers. I got 4x times Turkey and 3x times Austria and i joined the game 3rd to last. I am also new here and there are other players who had less points when they joined. An explanation would be helpful, because Í do not believe in bad luck here.

Of Wars and War Crimes
http://news.yahoo.com/exhibition-of-syria-torture-photos-shows--depravity--of-assad-regime-220711714.html With all the talk concerning whether Israel and/or Hamas should/will face war crimes (I think there's a case to be made both Netanyahu AND Hamas leadership should face charges), we have here what's being called the "smoking gun" for Assad's actions. But does the threat of a warm crimes charge really mean anything? If not, how can it be made to "mean" more?
