Correction, Duff--
SF played pretty well in the first half of the Bears and Cardinals games...
And THEN played like garbage in the 2nd half of each game.
My hope for them right now is to just tread water...go 4-4, and get to mid-season, when they're slated to get Aldon Smith and likely NaVorro Bowman back, and then, hopefully, with their pass rush thus restored, we can put the petal to the metal and roll off wins and eke out a playoff spot, and get in while we're HOT.
1-3 is a real possibility, and if that happens, there's going to be the kind of mid-season panic the 49ers haven't seen in a LONG time...my one hope is that, as the Redskins showed today by scoring 34

, you CAN rack up points throwing deep on the Eagles' secondary...which is good, because that's exactly what you can do against the SF secondary right now as well.
So maybe Kaepernick has the kind of day that shows off why he's a big-name star in this league, and rushes and passes for a lot of yards and points, and the Niners win the Old 49er Way, the "outscore your opponent and hope the defense just makes a couple of stops" way.
If I had to bet, I admit, I'd bet Eagles...but oh boy am I hoping against hope hard as I can we can pull it out somehow...
