Well, the mods have a tiny apartment in an undisclosed location where we all live/meet/moderate. There are no health benefits but we do qualify for non-profit religious status. We get hate mails regularly and there is at least one "Diplomacy" website devoted to us where they don't actually play Diplomacy or really talk too much about Diplomacy. You'll get questions like "Who made Riot a mod?" from the forum and your Diplomacy play will suffer greatly.

The downside is that no one will like you but if you are clever enough, you can be a +1 whore.

I wasn't bringing in enough $$$ for zultar, so they kicked me out and put bo_sox in my place :( Apparently they thought a younger, fresher person would be more appealing to our customers.

No, moding definitely doesn't cause anal leakage. Modding on the other hand, well...that's an entirely different story.
