I can't speak to btowser ones, but I enjoy Star Trek Online and it is free to play now.

Thank you for the suggestions. Alter Ego looks like about the right level of complexity. The Star Trek game looks kind of tempting. This is for my cook, she has been working for free for over a year now and has only asked me to teach her to play video games. She's a huge Star Trek fan so she will appreciate this.

The cool thing with STO is that, even though you can spend money and buy points which you can use to buy stuff exclusive to subscribers or people willing to buy the points (subscribers get an automatic monthly stipend depending n their tier), all ofthe stuff you buy is generally eye candy and doesn't make you character better. There are a few exceptions once you hit Vice Admiral and max out, like my carrier escort with a fighter wing attached to it. I can have 6 peregrin fighters plus my ship all fighting a Borg cube and take it out single handedly. This ship can only be gotten with Zen, but there are ways of exchanging dilithium and energy credits for Zen. It would just take you a *really* long time to save up enough to buy the ship.

I believe The Secret World has gone free to play as well as Star Wars: The Old Republic. SW:TOR has the better ground combat system between it and Trek, but STO has the best space combat system out there right now.

The Secret World is cool in that it has an in gmae web browser and is presented as taking place in the present day but inside of secret societies, so the developer puts major news events in the real world into play in game when they can.

STO is pretty cool. I heard about it from Draug on this forum and have a Romulan nearly maxed out. The space combat is pretty cool. It's also really easy to accumulate energy credits (like gold in WoW) through the Exchange (their version of the auction house).

@CA - I'm working my way slowly through both a Romulan and a Klingon (both were Borg in a past life :-) ) as well as workign through Defiance, so it is taking a little longer.

Try dilithium mining to each some extra EC as well as hit the dilithium store.

If you plan to play other characters in the future, don't sell off the account bound stuff (you can't auction it if it is bound anyhow) but put it in your acocunt bank. Your future characters will thank you for the boost to better equiment than they happebn to find early on. My Romulan and Klingon both have Federation level infinity stuff on their ships that my Admiral was no longer using.

If you can't sell an item at auction because it is character bound, you may as well recycle it then as you won't get any more from the vendors than you get with the ships recycling capabilities.
