Country selection by player

In tournament style games I've read about you pick your country before the game starts based on a selection order. It would be nice to implement the feature on here for locked games.

How do you "leave" a game?

I've seen different games where it says "Left" on the player's line. I don't see where you can click that - there's a Pause / Cancel / Draw option, but no "Leave the game" option.

Can anyone tell me how this works?

Ex. One nation could use Middle English, one Elizabethan-era/Early Modern English, one Text/Meme Speak, one American South-style English, etc...

Games where people have left

I think it would be a good idea for the password to be removed for when someone has left a game and will make it easier for someone to take over a game. Additionally since the new person is at a disadvantage not knowing the situation they take over a reduced fee for entry. It is very frustrating when people leave a game or NMR so making it more viable for players to take over will keep games going rather than the players next to that country taking advantage like vultures which ruins the game.

It is the ultimate test of skill and I'd argue that this game was made to played live.
Yes, it's time intensive, but it is also really fun and rewarding if you do take the time to sit-down and spent 3 hours of your life on a game that is such a joy to play!

Right now it seems live games can only start with low-bets and are infested by sub-optimal players, I want to change. I want to play live games against some of the most skilled players Diplomacy has to offer.

Lopt, depending on when you play, there are usually some good live game players online between 7 and 8 EST on weekdays, you may want to try setting up a live game then with at least a 101 point buy-in.

GB is stripped version of Diplomacy in my opinion. Some people argue it's a different game, I'd argue it's less of a game..

Full press with 5-minute phases is an invitation to NMR. And 10-15 minute phases takes way too long.

No, and no. As far as the first goes it is no more a reason to NMR than any other variant. Indeed, as the game demands attention from start to finish there is far less chance of a good player NMRing due to some unforeseen circumstance.

Also, 10 minute phases are not long at all as long as people agree before hand to ready. 10 minute games only fail because some arse doesn't ready retreats. If you set-up a game with only reliable players who agree to readying and not using the timer as a tool to gain an advantage, they make by far the best games.

Far more fun and intense than the long phase games

Perhaps I am missing something in live games ... when I ready early, I am often caught by surprise because the game advances early and I miss several minutes of the 5-minute window.

I have also had trouble typing and reading messages within the 5-minutes before.

If someone has a fix for the first issue, I would appreciate it. Even if it is just pointing out user error.

If everyone readies their order the game advances automatically. Which is why the phase would end early.

Additionally if your computer's clock is off, the timer will be screwed up.

(And yeah. I am trying to get the 150cc running again. Though I really don't think pure live games are a viable concept. Unless a lot of people can commit to set times. Which is why I proposed we try something else this time.)

Yes eventually moving to a system where you are notified when the game advances would be great. As it is you have to keep hitting reload. I like live games, but I get a bit overwhelmed in the mid-end game when you are trying to keep track of the board. a 10 min live game with readied moves when able sounds great.

Dragon's Dogma & Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch PS3 Games

If you are RPG gamers, you need to get these two games. If you need some games to play, you need to get these two games. They are excellent games. My Dragon's Dogma's pawn is Katarina (sorcerer).
