Rules of life?
Does anyone has some sort of rules they live by, like the Ten Commandments? Semper Fidelis? Carpe Diem? Anything you live by?

An important one for me would be: Sometimes you're wrong.
I'm thinking of making a list for myself so I know what I want if it ever gets to a rash decision of big importance or something...

did obama really set a trial for osamas son in law in the states
how did this happen? this is the only reasonable thing i think his administration has done in recent memory. will this be a public hearing? everything i am sure will be classified - they cant let people know the truth about any of this al qaeda stuff. but just bringing him into the country is something. did this guy have absolutely no knowledge of the organization? how could obama do this?

Point Tax
It seems to me there is a great disparity in the number of pints people have, with some having earned thousands, and other often stuck below 100. It is time to implement a Point Tax, perhaps monthly, to supplement to lower-tiered players who can not/will not earn and save points. Who's in???

absurd amounts of sugar in a venti
so new york will make it illegal to put more than 3 teaspoons of sugar in a venti. so you sugar addicted assholes have to start carrying around packets of sugar. but i guess this probably doesnt apply to self-serve sugar - so maybe starbucks is still ok.

Korean War II
North Korea shattered the peace pacts! Looks like Kim Jong Il is not only eating himself into a heart attack but smoking himself into a coma. Good luck, North Korea! The world will remember you as the horrendous crapshoot you were.

How have they shattered the peace pacts? N.Korean saber rattling...well, US saber rattling...Russian sabre rattling...Chinese sabre rattling...is all par for the course. <Yawn...>

Anyway, The Dude in the White House says he can shoot down that crappy N. Korean nuke so, you know...BRING IT ON! (Huh...didn't Bush get hammered for similar such braggadocio? errr.....yeah...Only Bush wasn't asking for nukes to come his way...)

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_US_NKOREA?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2013-03-07-17-01-56

Seriously? That bitch in the White House is just too tiny a man to let Pyong Yang's mental farts pass by on the wind without feeling compelled to acknowledge them...let alone MAN UP???

Damn...I think the 'Bamster would *never* survive a WebDip forum thread...

Yes yes yes...they have ended the peace pact. The fighting begins in 3...2...oh, wait, just kidding. Not the first idle threat out of the nutbaggery that occupies Pyong Yang.

If you can't man up on a website in which nobody knows you and you are in no apparent danger, you shouldn't say someone with a missile pointed at them should man up.
krellin (80 DX)
08 Mar 13 UTC
I don't man up when it is unnecesarry. The Bamster is too stupid to realize when he should...and should not. In reality, "manning up" in this case would have meant:

"In other news today...Obama, in a manly manner today, MANNED UP and ignored ridiculous, idle threats from N Korea and offered no further comment"

He chose, instead, the punk ass bitch route like a thug on a street corner.

If there is a possible North Korea South Korea war how will it affect the USA? And what country's should be allies?
krellin (80 DX)
08 Mar 13 UTC
How will it affect the US? Seriously? How about, you know...like all the US troops still stationed in South Korea, for starters. (My brother is actually being deployed there for a couple weeks about a week from now...no idea what for, but something to do with Nat. Guard.) they are an ally, meaning in theory if they go to war we have to step up and defend them, because you can't let little commies go runnin' batshit all over Asia! Plus, there's always a new weapons system laying in a warehouse somewhere the General's will want to try....maybe this time it will be the rail gun!!! THAT would be sweet...

@ krellin

What on earth makes you think North Korea would put a nuke on a missile? They're not fool enough to think that would work. The nukes will be stationed at strategic ground locations in North Korea near the border (or a few likely landing sites around the coast).

Attack-Retreat-Detonate-Win

We had a similar plan to use against the Soviets in Germany... although being British we had to be quirky and use chickens as detonators.

Still... will probably never happen :)

I was stationed in korea for almost 3 years

Krellin your brother is probably going for Operation Team Spirit. An annual joint exercise where lots of reservists and national guard units deploy for war games vs the regular army and south korean units there. It is generally a laughable event but good training for our reserve units who are generally do not do well

When we were on the DMZ we had a life expectancy of about 11 seconds if the north attack that moment.

We were told "you are an excuse for america to commit more troops after you die"
blankflag (0 DX)
08 Mar 13 UTC
people representing the north koreans probably would not want to attack anyone with a nuke... but if western intelligence is willing to sacrifice thousands of american civilians in a false-flag attack, how many south koreans would they be willing to get rid of to further their agenda? that scenario is in the wet dreams of the most powerful people in the world.

do you know there was an american company that sold nuclear tech to north korea that was later used for their bomb. and a famous american politician was on the company board when that sale happened. anyway it makes sense so dont be surprised if it happens. they got kind of screwed that china is withdrawing support though. they really want china to be tied to north korea then have a nuke go off, then milk it in the media forever and use it to start their desired war. this is what their plan is. first they destroy the economy then they start a war, then afterwards they somehow have much more power than ever. see: ww1, ww2

for historical precedent we can see if the western political elite were responsible for the first two world wars. how about churchill on ww1?

Should Germany merchandise (do business) again in the next 50 years we have led this war (WW1) in vain." - Winston Churchill in The Times (1919)

"We will force this war upon Hitler, if he wants it or not." - Winston Churchill (1936 broadcast)

"Germany becomes too powerful. We have to crush it." - Winston Churchill (November 1936 speaking to US - General Robert E. Wood)

"This war is an English war and its goal is the destruction of Germany." - Winston Churchill (- Autumn 1939 broadcast)

the guy is such a hero lets see what he said about ww2

"The war wasn't only about abolishing fascism, but to conquer sales markets. We could have, if we had intended so, prevented this war from breaking out without doing one shot, but we didn't want to."- Winston Churchill to Truman (Fultun, USA March 1946)

"Germany's unforgivable crime before WW2 was its attempt to loosen its economy out of the world trade system and to build up an independent exchange system from which the world-finance couldn't profit anymore. ...We butchered the wrong pig." -Winston Churchill (The Second World War - Bern, 1960)

so who do you think is considering ww3?

Winston Churchill? I raise, 3 cookies.
Octavious (2701 D)
08 Mar 13 UTC
Considering Germany, France, Austria et al are also part of the West I don't think saying WW2 was caused by the Western elite is going to take the world by storm... Neither is plucking fragments of speeches out of context like a child trying to prove the Bible is wrong.

Still, good marks for enthusiasm :)

Advice to a new online player
Hey--

Although I'm no stranger to board games, or negotiating games (there's a Game of Thrones boardgame that--at least when I play it--includes a Diplomacy-style negotiating phase) I am new to Diplomacy. Needless to say, I'm new to this site as well. As a 30-something high-school history teacher familiar with strategy/negotiation, what is the best advice a long-time player can offer me?

Hi,

This and 11 other accounts I control were created to fill slots in a large game with some friends. We wanted to play the 17 player map with less than 17 people (we are aware of balance issues with this), and our schedules are varied which disallows us from having shorter turns.
