Face to face

Played my first face to face last weekend. Bought an 18 pack of PBR and played with 6 total on the board. 3 of us had played before and 3 never. Ended up the 3 that had played drew E/F/G. We made it to 1905 before we ran out of time, but one of the noobs was hooked immediately and ordered the game online next day. He's trying to set up another face to face this weekend.

I am going to uphold hope that he is simply a caring, devout person that has fallen victim to a horrible tragedy until it's all finished... that's all I can do. He is one hell of a liar if that's the kind of person he is because the last four years have shown nothing of the type.

The AD (Swarbrick) says he's a victim... I hope he's right.

I'm having a really hard time deciding if this is hilarious or tragic.

Are there really "friends" who would stage a multi-year, public hoax, faking to be a romantically interested woman?

Are there really people who become emotionally attached to someone they meet online without ever meeting them in real life or at least video chatting?

I'm having an incredibly hard time believing Te'o didn't know what was up. But, if he truly was bamboozled, it's incredibly sad for a variety of reasons.

Are you serious? Uh...half of the people on the forums have rather *strong* emotional ties to other people on the forums. It's a fallacy to think intimacy comes with contact.

With a few well oiled words individuals can..what? Be convinced to send their money to Nigeria? Send nude photos of themselves to anonymous people on line? Debate religious and political topics with raging vehemence for the ump-teenth thousandth time? The examples of this are everywhere.

Hmmm...Abge must be pulling out leg with this question..

To the best of my knowledge, there are no active relationship on this site that started here. Just like it's easier to be friends with someone than being in a relationship with them, you'd think most people are more discerning when going from an efriend to an erelationship.

a friend told me that he has said he met her in person and that his family said the same.

is that true? if it is, it's hard to say he is not in on it.

Yes, there are numerous reports of him claiming to have met her and talked to her over the phone several times.

So, here's the most interesting conspiracy theory I've heard:

He's a Mormon. He's also in the closet. As a successful football player, women are constantly making advances. In order to stop it without getting outed, he creates a fake gf (beards are very common). It spirals out of control and he decides to kill her off before people find out she's not real.

There is 0 evidence for this, but it makes a good story.

Sitter

I need a sitter from the 19th through the 27th... it may go a day or so beyond that as well. I hope to have most of my games paused but I'll still have between 5-8 to play. Can't unpause.

Why all the Lori Grimes hate?

I'm only through the second episode of season three of Walking Dead, but why all the Lori Grimes hate? We've all done dumb things, like drive off in a car without telling anyone and crashing into a walker, and who hasn't lost a child (a few hundred times), so beyond the obvious complaints (crashing car, losing son), why all the Lori Grimes hate?
