I had the extreme fortune of playing the beta, and I must say that I very strongly reccomend getting StarCraft II, even if you're a die-hard player (which I am not ^^).
In an nutshell, it has the old school feel, but looks and plays better with new features that actually make sense alongside classic gameplay (resource gathering, bases).
Blizzard, basically, seems to be the only gaming company left now that doesn't horribly screw with it's fans (looking at *you* EA-tards).
Starcraft II doesn't go too too overboard with graphics (considering 12 years I was expecting a little more, but hey) and basically looks the same, except more detailed and oh so much more polished! It didn't screw up on me at all, the framerates were steady, no visual or gameplay glitches etc.
Some of the unit choices were a little weird and I am upset they killed the firebats, but it seems to be better balanced so maybe it's for the best. :/
Secondly, the campaign seems to be great (haven't seen too much of it) and apparently takes a decent amount of time to complete (25 + hourish I think?) with lots of customizing gameplay and researhc options ability. Personally I hope the single player is longer, but we'll see. Not holding my breath. The lore, if you're into it, promises to be good. ^^
Overall, seems to be worth the money. :)
