Divisible Agony
gameID=13377
Post your after-game thoughts here.
(I will be sending PM's to get people to comment and posting my own thoughts here momentarily.)

To begin with, I created this game, and designed every rule to be agonizing (10 days per phase, Winner-takes-all pot type, anonymous players and no press). :-)

The "Divisible" part is somewhat of a misnomer. I was initially going to make the bet 34 D (which results in the smallest perfectlly divisible pot in PPSC games), but in the end decided that a WTA game would be more agonizing. It still makes a nice name, though.

Oh, and as for my ability to protect all my holdings that last phase, I have to just say I'm a genius. Who would have expected Tri-Bud and Vie-Bud? The only moves that could have taken me out of Vienna or Trieste were Bud-Vie with support from Gal and Ser-Bud, a most unlikely combination. In the end, it doesn't really matter though in a WTA game.

Oh, and I think there were no less than 7 CD's (countries that missed two phases in a row) in this game, in order:
Spring 1903: Austria-Hungary
Fall 1903: Russia
Spring 1904: France
Spring 1905: Russia again
Fall 1905: France again
Spring 1906: England
Spring 1907: Russia for the third time
Wow!

dave bishop: It was you all along! What happened in the end with StevenC.?

bodek: I see we have met before, in the very first game (I played from the beginning) that I finished, gameID=12231 (TORU SATU). I think your Fall 1906 suicide-attack was one of the craziest and gutsy moves I've ever seen.

Yes, the game was littered with CDs, and I have to admit the ones from France and Russia and England were the main reasons for my victory, although I didn't face much opposition from the countries that didn't CD either.

About two days after joining the game, I regretted doing so as it was agonizingly slow to progress, and when you're doing well that's especially annoying.
Normally it was exactly one country that failed to finalize which was also frustrating.

This was actually one of the first games I played on the site so its nice its finally over.

Hmm, the only two gunboat games I've played from the beginning were as Italy. The other was gameID=14126. I survived both with the same number of SC's. :-)

With StevenC. I was sitting his world cup game but now can't access his account as the password's been changed. His WC game is actually my best game at the moment so I'd really like to keep playing it but I don't know who's got access to his account

dave bishop: I made a decision to throw everything I had at containing Italy. I looked enviously at empty French SC's, but I knew that it was impossible for me to reach them without imploding (I saw Turkey was expanding rapidly. I kept on hoping that Turkey would back off, but it never did. It must have been a pretty straightforward game for you, though, at least after Fance CD'd.
And ha ha about it being agonizing! I didn't expect so many newbies to join in and leave, though. I have to tell, you though, that I've been playing the same 3-day phase game (gameID=12882&) since "22 Aug 2009". That was also one of my earlier games, and I can't believe I'm still playing it!

I'm not exactly sure. I received this from StevenC.'s account Saturday:
"
Some computer trouble for StevenC. means that I am sitting his account.

I advise finding a replacement.

Yours,

Ghost
"
I start asking about, and from one of my teammates (Troodonte) the same day I hear that Steven C. is back, and then receive this from StevenC.'s account:
"
dave bishop had a break himself.

Fortunately, StevenC is back again anyway, so panic over :)
"
But World Cup Group C Standard Board 1 remains paused, and although I see that StevenC. voted to unpause, I have yet to hear from StevenC. himself in a PM or through e-mail.
And now I'm surprised no one contacted you. I was expecting you to give me some answers. But in case no one else does, I thank you for subbing. :-)

Yeah, Turkey kept attacking you and for me that made things exceptionally easy as you couldn't really do much but support hold Trieste and ionian near the end of the game...
That's a very long game- i suppose you kept having to pause it.

It was annoying with all the CDs, and it being gunboat made it worse- but overall I still enjoyed the game- so thanks all those who didn't CD for playing

Interesting messages- I don't know what's going on now- no one's told me anything

Are you in charge of StevenC.'s WC team?

JECE (1248 D)
23 Feb 10 UTC
Yeah, I liked the game as well. By the way, did you notice the error during Fall 1905 disbands? A Russian NMR should have resulted in F Swe being disbanded, but instead of A Ukr was.
That game was paused a few times, yes, but it's mostly that Germany nearly never finalizes, not even for builds or retreats. It can get rather annoying.
I am supposed to be the captain, so that says a bit about m abilities. :-)

Firefox (3.6) issue
Sometimes I cannot use my wose wheel and keyboard on this page. Something on this page suddenly disables both. For example, I want to write an ingame message and suddenly, the letters I enter do not appear anymore and I get a sound message instead (ping. Windows Vista here).
It just happened when I was writing this message, after the first "s" of "ingame message".

I tried to disable ABP but without effect. I don't have any other plugins.

How does cheating get investigated on this site?
I know I am new to this site (but I am certainly not new to diplomacy, either web based or otherwise) so how do I get anyone to investigate possible cheating on this particular site - if indeed any investigations into cheating do actually occur on this site.

It is just that I have an gunboat game that has an awful of very co-ordinated moves - more than you could resonably expect from a gunboat game.
