different colored bars
What do the differently colored bars in the games show? I mean those bars that are under each username and at the top over and under the "game info" showing how many points I have, if I have finalized, ....
I didn't find what they are good for.

G20
Hey Sicarius, I heard about some anarchists getting tear gassed and arrested in Pittsburgh, are you there?

That aside, what do you all think of the G20's meeting, i.e. what should their goals be, or should they be meeting at all?

At a guess, I reckon he would be disappointed at the failure of the World financial system to melt down over the past year and be considering stepping up militant activities to destabilise society etc...

Probably throwing things and getting filmed.

This was at an earlier G20 summit. And coupled with the FBI's COINTELPRO program, I wouldn't automatically assume they were anarchists.

yes , remember the fiasco the Italian police created in the g8 meeting a few years ago in Genoa.

Sicarius (673 D)

I'm not there. however I know ALOT of people there. I am constantly monitering/recording p-burg police scanners and getting real time updates from people on the ground.

smashing a window is violent? oh wait your right, last time I smased one, it's screams were unbearable. it just cried and cried and yelled and begged. oh wait no, that was the sound of the police beating people.

Also, I think the people that are more upset by a few broken windows, than 20 people meeting to decide how better to exploit 8 billion people, need some fucking perspective.
Draugnar (0 DX)
25 Sep 09 UTC
@Sic - do I have to post the definition of violent behavior and violence again? Anything destructive is considered violent. It's one of the definitions, dude. Breaking a window is destructive. Smashing a car into a wall with test dummies strapped inside is violent. It is violence with a purpose and not directed at people, but it is still violence.
Thucydides (864 D(B))
25 Sep 09 UTC
Please elaborate. I don't think they're trying to decide how to exploit us, but trying to decide how best to work together with everyone.

Smashing a window is a problem because it's not your window. I don't want anybody to smash my window, a cold front is coming through and it would pretty chilly in here if you did. It's my only window and now that I'm in college I don't think I could afford it getting fixed. In fact I might actually get evicted from my apartment for it.

So yeah.. broken windows are no fun. Neither is tear gas or rubber bullets but like I said, is it not possible to protest legally?

And Darwyn it seems they really were anarchists, not just because of Sicarius' post but because they carried signs with the A symbol and all.

I was shocked that Iran is building a second enrichment facility, I used to be on the fence about thinking Iran might be in it for peaceful energy, now there's no shadow of a doubt what it's for
Thucydides (864 D(B))

Yeah that really surprised me too.
Every once in a while you hear some news that really just shocks you.
Draugnar (0 DX)
25 Sep 09 UTC
I sometimes think Sic is sitting in his mother's basement and laughing his ass off because he thinks we believe he is some kind of active anarchist who gets laid by a variety of men, women, and farm animals every night.
Invictus (240 D)
25 Sep 09 UTC
I think he's telling most of the truth. There's got to be some composing, but to be that consistently crazy you need to really believe it.

Police don't just beat people up for no reason. You've got to be breaking the law and resisting arrest for that to happen.
tailboarder (100 D)
25 Sep 09 UTC
I may get hammered for this but here goes...
Do you really believe there are 20 people sitting at some round table deciding how the rest of the world's economy is going to flow into their pockets? I suppose there is some great secret society that is controlling the masses. They get us out of bed each morning lead us to our jobs and schools. Teach us what we should believe and then take advantage of the drones walking around doing their bidding? I have my job and even if I am a drone, I am quite happy doing what I do.
I have no respect for the couch potato that sits around drinking kool aid all day eating cheetos watching Springer and talking about how "the man" is out to get him.
I happen to believe there is a lot of waste and corruption in government. Look at the recent bail outs. That money split evenly among the WORKING TAX PAYING people in America (NOT NOT NOT anyone described previously) would have done more to bolster the economy than the lying accountants that got them in that position to begin with.
I do not believe they are going to come to a real, viable, reasonable, or acceptable solution to any problems. Except to throw more money at the problem.
But to say they are out to get us is not true either. I have lost my faith in government. I have not seen a majority vote on anything recently that was not filled with pork barrel spending or special considerations for specific interest groups. Government is full of politicians.
I expect to hear a few comments here. I know it is over simplified. I just don't believe the majority of politicians are looking out for the general public.
I don't believe in conspiracy theories either. (We did land on the moon)
Tailboarder,
Uh oh, Sicarius is going to non-violently break your windows.

Isn't it the gays that cause hurricanes? Isn't that what Jerry Falwell said? Or was it Pat Buchanan?

Tolstoy (1962 D)
25 Sep 09 UTC
Tailboarder, you're right that 'they' are not "out to get us". But that obviously doesn't mean they have 'our' best interests at heart - they're all thinking about themselves and how to maintain the established world order they're on top of with a minimum of changes.

Powerful people like to keep, maintain, and expand their power - the consequences of their quest as it relates to all us little people don't mean much to them either way for the most part (although there are some notable exceptions, like Mao or the Khmer Rouge).
flashman (2274 D(G))
26 Sep 09 UTC
Mao cared about the little people? Is that a sly reference to the girls he had delivered on a regular basis?
Sicarius (673 D)

if you're just going to insult me based on assumptions, I dont see much of a point in trying to have a serious conversation about capitalism, government, and the G20. I know 5 year olds less immature than that.
Thucydides (864 D(B))
26 Sep 09 UTC
If you're talking about me, Sic, you know better than that. I am always open to hear what you have to say.

These others I'm not so sure. But I did not start this thread with the intent of bashing your ideas.
Sicarius (673 D)
26 Sep 09 UTC
Never you thuc ;]

but my point is, you cant expect me to seriously discuss anarchism and direct action when you insinuate that I fuck sheep or something equally insulting. people that have been around on this forum for awhile know I am who I say I am.
So if y'all want to set aside the third grade name calling and general immaturity, we can have a nice intelligent discussion.
"you cant expect me to seriously discuss anarchism and direct action when you insinuate that I fuck sheep"

Hmmm, he just said farm animals. You went straight to sheep. Interesting...

"Also, I think the people that are more upset by a few broken windows, than 20 people meeting to decide how better to exploit 8 billion people, need some fucking perspective."

One direct inquiry on this one Sicarius.

In this massive conspiracy to exploit the whole of humanity, where did the G20 leaders hide 1.3 billion extra people that nobody else seems to have noticed?
Thucydides (864 D(B))
26 Sep 09 UTC
Man I say we just round it out to 10 billion just for simplicity. I mean, it's only a matter of time anyway.
Lol
Invictus (240 D)
26 Sep 09 UTC
They don't need perspective, they just don't think the meeting is about exploiting people.

http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=13511

We need to pause in our game because the Russian player is away until tomorrow evening (after the turn deadline), but one of the other players hasn't signed in for four days and will likely never come back either to vote for the pause or to play the game at all. I've asked the other players to submit orders for a full hold, in the meantime, but I can't guarantee that will happen. Can a mod please pause the game?

Suspicious live game - MODS PLEASE TAKE NOTE - Multiaccounting?
I just joined a live game, id# 13716. We haven't started yet, but something's fishy. The other three players are War13104, PrivateBiscuit01, and CPhoenixM. None of these players has any finished past games, messages, or forum posts. Two (War and Private) have consecutive user id#'s. War just dropped out of the game after I messaged him with this concern. Any mods out there?
