"Nationally, the case has drawn wide attention from parents of children with Down syndrome and advocacy groups. More than 1,000 angry messages also fill the Facebook page of the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office."
A thousand angry messages on facebook is nothing. There were no protests, the president of the United States and the Attorney General took no note of this murder, and there were no angry marchers. Nothing but a shrug and an "aw shucks, that's too bad".
"You literally posted a link to this story being covered by The Washington Post."
I did. I bet in the print version, it was a quarter page on A47. In contrast, Michael Brown's death and the resulting news was front page daily. Why?
"Also, this story is from March 2013. Why do you expect to see people posting about it on the webDip forum today? "
To be honest, I didn't check the date. I remember when this story was first reported on, and it seemed like about a year ago, which would've meant that about now would be the right time for a grand jury to finish with a hearing. Apparently my impressions of the chronology were way off. But the fact that there wasn't a single forum post on this story when it occurred, whereas some victims of police homicides have had several the last few weeks, makes my point no matter when this happened.
"Because whites aren't organized. It happens so often to minorities that they are organized. "
The majority of victims of police homicides are white. And whites are certainly organized - we are told, after all, that we control everything. I'd be willing to bet that the board of the ACLU is majority white. But aside from anti-government libertarians, groups which ought to be concerned about homicides like this are oblivious if the victim isn't black. Why?
