The Worst of the Best: The All-Time Masters' Most Crap-tastic Works
I may have mentioned once or twice that I'm rather fond of Shakespeare as an author. Just a little mention, here and there, you know...if you didn't catch those subtle references, no big deal. I may have also let slip in the past that I think "The Merry Wives of Windsor" is the worst Shakespeare work written. Period. Bar none. So let's talk about our favorite folks's biggest flops--the worst works of our favorite great authors, bands, artists, etc.

ACA/Obamacare A "Failure"!

51,000 out of 47,000,000 = 0.109% participating rate of the supposedly desperate Americans seeking health care. Obamacare...and it's supposed necessity, is a fraud.

Can one be Diplophilic?
Putin33 (111 D)
19 Oct 13 UTC
Yes, this is the same argument you've been making over and over again. You don't want to change any language ever because it'll only create new oppressive words, blah, blah, blah.
Putin33 (111 D)
19 Oct 13 UTC
But yet none of you have been able to defend why we identify sex when we talk about attractedness to others. The argument is just sheer laziness and pessimism, really.
Draugnar (0 DX)

He didn't say he didn't want to, he just said it serves no purpose to forcibly try and change it instead of letting it naturally evolve.

"instead of letting it naturally evolve."

Draug there has a very good point. Putin, have you attended to how attitudes have changed with the younger generations about gay marriage, LGBT rights, acceptance, etc.? I find that much more interesting then your old fashioned language engineering.

Putin, it's okay to concede an argument. It really is. We'll not think the less of you.
Draugnar (0 DX)
19 Oct 13 UTC
It's not just the younger generation, plenty of people in their 30s and 40s even in conservative towns have begun to respect the rights and embrace the diversity that the LGBTQ community brings to society.

I just want Putin to address his preference between "cock" and "the yummy stick".
Draugnar (0 DX)

It's not a cock, it's a phallic fertility organ.
krellin (80 DX)
19 Oct 13 UTC
Well if you are heterosexual. But if you are homosexual Putin, it's "the yummy stick"
Putin33 (111 D)

"who f-ing cares?"

You've participated in this thread long enough that your macho apathy isn't fooling anyone.

"utin, have you attended to how attitudes have changed with the younger generations about gay marriage, LGBT rights, acceptance, etc.? I find that much more interesting then your old fashioned language engineering."

I noticed you didn't call them homosexual rights or even have H listed in the acronym. Gee, I wonder why that is. Could it be because it's a woefully outdated term that no gay rights group anywhere uses?

Putin33 (111 D)
19 Oct 13 UTC
'Gay marriage' is not the sine qua non of gay rights. And the fact that you think trans issues are irrelevant and shouldn't deserve attention speaks volumes about how far you claim you've come. As is your non-response to Krellin's repeated homophobic remarks.
krellin (80 DX)
19 Oct 13 UTC
Putin...Mr Smarty Pants....define the term "gay" for me? How is the word "gay" different that the dusty old archaic word "homosexual" for which "gay" is a one-for-one replacement in common language?

Here's the thing, Putin....language...it's kind of this wonderful, special thing about intelligent beings in that utterances of sound create meaning in the minds of other intelligent beings.

There is NO inherent value to the sound itself...for example, if I said, "grphilincklebots" to use, it has no meaning.

So MEANING to the sounds we make is part of the social construct, even the social "contract" if you will, and I say "contract" because we all agree that certain sounds will have the SAME meaning to everyone.

Tree is a plant, made of wood with leaves, or maybe needles, etc.

Well, guess what, buddy boy...HOMOSEXUAL has a generally agreed upon meaning in society. Just because *you* and some ridiculously small minority of sexual activists have decided that you don't like the word for whatever assinine reason you don't like it does NOT automatically strip the word of it's long-standing, socially-agreed-upon meaning.

Putin - "Could it be because it's a woefully outdated term that no gay rights group anywhere uses?"

Yes. But not because the term references the sex of the individual which is what you have been arguing.

putin - "'Gay marriage' is not the sine qua non of gay rights. And the fact that you think trans issues are irrelevant and shouldn't deserve attention speaks volumes about how far you claim you've come."

yet again you fall back on straw man arguments. I never presented gay marriage as sin qua non of gay rights, I noted it as an example of changing attitudes. Furthermore your bizarre contention, based on thin air that I think trans issues are irrelevant is simply wrong. But I do admit that the acronym LGBT and derivatives is a crime against language.

putin "You've participated in this thread long enough that your macho apathy isn't fooling anyone."

When i said no one f-ing cares, I was referring to your obsession about the origin of the word homosexual and the word gay which also does not meet your standard. Word origin while interesting is only minimally revealing in regard to polysemic meaning and use of a word.

" As is your non-response to Krellin's repeated homophobic remarks."

Krellin is fool who lives in a cave. He is consistently offensive, but you are more interesting to argue with than Krellin. I'm also offended when he calls me a Libtard. That is offensive to all people with intellectual disabilities (is that an okay term?) as well as Alan Alda. But what's the point of arguing with him about it? There's no logic there anyway (I mean in krellin's brain).

You have all failed to answer my questions about feral dogs and microevolution post rapture.

Although as I type this I realize the question presupposes the literal truth of the bible AND the existence of natural selection. huh.

It also puts a literal spin on John's dream which is clearly allegorical in nature as most prophecies are.
