Bug Report
In game Go Chargers (http://www.phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=2973) I (Germany) was unable to place units last fall, even though I've got 14 supply depots and only 13 units... anyone know why this might be?

Bug in support move orders?
I cannot upload the third field of any support move orders in http://www.phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=2879.
I submit the filled fields, they stay pink and never turn white, while my browser hangs on. Has anybody else experienced such a problem?
Thanks for your attention.

Tournament Update
It's been a while since anything's been said about the Grand Festive Diplomacy Tournament in the forum, so I thought I'd give an update.

We're in the midst of round 2. We seem to have lost two players to CD and one player only joined one of his games, but otherwise things have been going smoothly. A few of the games seem to be nearing completion, but there are still a few very interesting games going on. If you're interested in checking them out, visit the official tournament page at: http://www.llamanation.org/grandfestivediplomacytournament2007. That will have as up-to-date information on the tournament as I've written anywhere.

If the links tell you you're not a member of the game and don't show you the map, remove the www. from the game url's and they should work, thanks to an interesting quirk of phpdip.

I'll post updates in this thread as games complete and once the players moving on to the finals have been decided.

New Turn Length
Are the 48-hour turn lengths intentional? I can get used to it I'm just wondering.

In my games everything is running smoothly and I am very appreciative of supporting convoys and no self-displacement. However I am curious as to how the map will replace Game Master tab. Anyway I'm sure that will resolve itself, my main question is about the new turn lengths. I hadn't heard Kestas mention that so I'm curious.

thats a very plausible theory.

oh to whoever said that muslims hate christians and jesus, Jesus is the most quoted prophet in the koran
Theophilus (100 D)
07 Mar 08 UTC
They are also given extra reward in heaven the more christians they kill. I've read the Koran. Christianity is not to be tolerated under any circumstances. If they do not convert, you tax them heavily until they have nothing left to give, and then you kill them.
Pandora (100 D)
07 Mar 08 UTC
I have also read the koran. as well as the torah and the bible, and studied the ways of the tao and buddhism. Shinto and hindu I have a rudimentary grasp.

Islam is a religion of peace. well as much as christianity or judism. so I guess none of them are...

oh and sometimes I read about scientology when I want to work on my abs. you know, the laughter.
Pandora (100 D)

Is there any chance that there is a Taoist among us? there is a "religion" I actually respect.
Theophilus (100 D)

Have you read the Haditha?
Theophilus (100 D)
07 Mar 08 UTC
If you had, you would notice that it specifically sets up the Caliphate as something holy. The Crusader States were never sanctioned by the Bible, but the Caliphate was condoned by the Haditha.
Thucydides (864 D(B))

Darwyn, to deny the existence of Jesus is to adopt an indefensible position. History is simply against you there. It has already been said by McCain and Theophilus, but I just want to reiterate how wrong you are in that. Also, about "the Bible wasn't even written until a hundred years or so after his death." That's just wrong. Dated manuscripts prove they were written in such temporal proximity that they were written by eyewitnesses. The manuscripts also prove the accuracy of our current translations. I would also like to make sure a point of McCain's sinks in:
Jesus did not study these ancient Egyptian or Persian gods... nor do I think did the authors of the gospels.

yes but it only gives him the right to kill in the defense of islam. it doesnt command him to purge all christians from the land. I would say historically islam is a less violent religion than christianity. nowadays this is not at all true, but once upon a time. It was the muslims that preserved all the greek knowledge while the christians wanted to destroy it. not to mention the slaughter of intellectual pagans, ex: Hypatia. During the Inquisition where jews or muslims were killed immedietly the muslim states had religious tolerence.
Pandora (100 D)
07 Mar 08 UTC
this is my opinion, I'll admit that I dont know enough about islam/christianity through the ages to effectivly argue this, but what research I have done seems to be along these lines. no one mention suicide bombers, yes sects of islam today are very violent

how many gospels are in the bible? its been a while since I read it. four, or twelve... not sure. but what I do know is that there are lots of gospels that were omitted such as the gospel of thomas, gospel of judas, many of which were written at the same time
Thucydides (864 D(B))
07 Mar 08 UTC
Both were violent. There are huge atrocities committed by both sides in the name of their religions. If Islam was nonviolent, why the offensive campaigns into Spain and France culminating at the Battle of Tours? Why the destruction of the already-existing Byzantine Empire? The Muslim capital moved to Damascus at one point, which at the time of Islam's founding was in Eastern Orthodoxy's Byzantine hands. So of course they were offensive. So too were Christians. The Crusades, while the cause was justified, were certainly taken out of control on an individual basis. So the faults of all the violence lies with ambitious humans, not with prophets or gods.
Theophilus (100 D)

Hahahahahahahahahaha. You are thinking of the Ottoman Turks. The Caliphate and the Seljuq Turks did burn massive amounts of Greek learning. Not all of it, but a magnificent amount of it. They extorted huge amounts of money out of Christians, and kept them alive merely to serve as, for example, the Sultan's Christian Guard, formed because the people would never let a Christian rule, and as such they would have no motive of killing the Sultan in order to take his place as fellow muslims might.
Thucydides (864 D(B))
07 Mar 08 UTC
Four gospels unless you count the Gnostic ones, which were rejected for obvious reasons, if read.
Theophilus (100 D)
07 Mar 08 UTC
And as far as the gospels of Thomas, Judas, Jesus, Mary Magdalene, etc. go: they were written about a hundred and fifty years after the others and their doctrines are completely contrary to the rest of the Christian faith. The Council of Nicaea formed the Nicene Creed to renounce them as heretics.
Theophilus (100 D)

wasn't the bible, "edited"? by a roman emperor.. I want to say constan... Con something. around 300?
I'm an atheist, but I don't not like religion, except organized religion, which promotes conformity.
Thucydides (864 D(B))
07 Mar 08 UTC
No, no, it wasn't. The Council of Nicaea, as Theophilus said, was responsible for the official canon. Most of this is not in doubt and can be researched on Wikipedia or at the library.

what year was it? (wiki is not working on my comp)
Thucydides (864 D(B))
07 Mar 08 UTC
The four gospels (known as the Tetramorph) were canonized ca. AD 160, but in wide use and acceptance along with the Pauline Epistles (Romans, Corinthian, etc) before the end of the First Century. Not written, the last of the books in the New Testament was written before the end of century, but canonized, mind you, as in, offically accepted. The New Testament was in its modern 27 book usage by AD 200. It was made official under the Roman government, newly Christian, at the Council of Carthage in 393, presided over by St. Augustine, who regarded the council as merely a formality, as the full Bible was already in circulation for over a century. The Council of Nicaea in 325 was the first sort of official Christian meeting after the Roman conversion, during which important other doctrines were made officicial, such as the date of Easter. So. I can see how that would be somewhat confusing, especially without Wikipedia lol.

we can't go to heavy traffic websites like google or wikipedia or myspace or ebay or things like that, because our downstairs neighbors wireless buckeye internet asks us to login. and since we're just kinda freeloading we cant
McCain (100 D)
07 Mar 08 UTC
Yea, Constantine never edited the Bible.

The Gnostic gospels, as Theophilus and Thucydides pointed out, were not written by Thomas, Mary Magdalene, or anyone else or note or proximity to Christ. They were written much later, by a group called the gnostics, who were denounced as heretics. These gospels were excluded with very good reason.

Public Apology to all players affected by my meta gaming before.
Dear Kestas and all phpDiplomacy players,

I am here to apologise and say sorry to all players affected by my meta gamings before. Sorry for all inconveniences and unpleasure caused.

In order to show my sincere repentance, I will stop playing all the acounts.

I will start a new account, try to avoid playing with my classmates, or play with them in password games,
to enjoy the pleasure brought by this wonderful game with all phpDiplomacy players.

I hope that everyone will forgive me and let me repent, change and start over in this game again.

Hope that you will accept my public apology.

Thank you for all your attentions.

(Forgive me that my English sucks too:))

white russia and the map
im sure this has been asked bef0re but why isnt russia white? isnt it white in the board game? it didnt look good? how about a cream/beige?
ive always thought the phpdip board a little too dark. some ligher colours might make it look nicer. and if it was lighter that would allow germany to be black...a much cooler looking colour than brown.

Suggestions for Kestas
Countries in CD should defend themselves. Units that can should hold support each other.

In the fall, countries without SCs, that cannot retreat into an open SC, should not be asked to retreat and disband. Too many players don't finalize those steps. The remaining players get to wait 48 hours.

Replying to people who always accuse, me, timchau, happyklim or other players in my class.
Let me explain to you guys about me and the players in my class first:

I am from Hong Kong, China.

I am in F.3, i.e. grade 9

My classmates playing phpDiplomacy include:

1. myself

2. saradomian

3. Gobbledydook

4. Chairman Mao

5. kn2005

6. timchau

7. happyklim

8. jasperleeabc

9.galaxypheonix

We are in the same class, and gobbledydook introduces this game to me. Soon, many of my classmates join, and we also like playing together. Playing in the the same game is not forbidden.

So I sincerely hope that you guys will stop making up things like we all are meta gaming.

Replying to sean:

Sometimes our classmate dosen't have enough points or don't want to play such low pot games. Also, some of us don't have too much time to play so many games. So, if we want to play private games, we would rather play the game on paper during the lesson... or free time :D

I hope this will answer all the questions to all of us.

Babysitter Wanted!
So, I'm going away for five days to Montreal during March break, and I'm looking for someone to take care of my account during the period. I'm only in one game, and it's basically a guaranteed win, so it's very low maintenance.

I'll be gone from March 7th to March 12th. E-mail me at [email protected] if you think you can take this job. Only two requirements, that you be relatively known and trustworthy, and obviously you aren't participating in my one game...

Thanks in advance!
