Contracts
Does anyone on here regularly look over or write contracts for a business (technically under Illinois law)? I have a new contract written up for my company I could use a hand and I don't wanna pay someone a brand new car an hour just to tell me it's all good. I would love you forever if you have the credibility to help and are willing to help <3

I'm starting college on Monday.
I'm majoring in computer science, and may also potentially dual major in that and mathematics. Any advice about either of the majors or college in general? Thanks.

"Burkini" Bans in France
Apparently, France is banning all sorts of religious garb, specifically targeting Muslim women, in the name of personal freedom and cultural values. Critics claim that hijabs, burkas, and other similar face or head coverings are repressive of women and are not fitting with the culture of openness in Western Europe. Thoughts?

What happens when you mute someone?
In a game. Do they notice this? Does it return their messages to sender? What if you unmute them later, do you suddenly receive all messages sent in between?

"Conservatism" and military spending
Something that puzzles me. A lot of people who call themselves conservative are generally big on pushing the small-government, "tax is theft" line. At the same time many of those same people are huge supporters of the armed forces.

How is decided which nation I get in a game?
I couldn't find an answer to this in the FAQ section.
When entering a new game, does the system distribute the nations to the players randomly? How is it decided who gets which nation? Is there a possible way of influencing the distribution, setting up preferences etc. or is it always totally random?
Thank you for answers.

Boston Massacre Tournament Sept 24-25 Cambridge, Mass
The Boston Massacre was the first F2F tournament I ever played in and was a big inspiration when I created the webDip F2F Tournament and The Boroughs. I'm very happy to be reviving this tournament along with Valis, 2nd, and RLH. For more info, check out www.BostonMassacreDiplomacy.com. Hope to see you there!

Just an observation Game ID=182261 Gunboat-629 is not gunboat at all. Join the other game there if you want to play Gunboat
Octavious (2701 D)

If the only people who joined Gunboat-629 were people who wanted to play gunboat, would it not in fact be a gunboat? Surely it's only if people choose to speak that it becomes a press game?

Ah... but then a mountain bike is still a mountain bike even if it goes nowhere near a mountain...

Damn it, Ranscott, why must ensnare us with such complex philosophical puzzles?! ghug has enough trouble concentrating as it is!

With the loss of Berlin France hasp no winning chance. It only remains to see if Italy is allowed to live.

That's a shame, would have enjoyed to see this game pushed all the way to its full extent to see what would have happened.

Oh well, good game all.

The game was over, VI.
VillageIdiot (7813 D)

It wasn't "over" over. Stp was obviously still procurable for France which could changed dynamics considerably depending on how well Russia reacted to that newfound vulnerability. Tunis as well and possibly Berlin.

I admit for good players this likely would head to a stalemate but there was maybe 10-15% chance of doing something better with this and that's what makes end games so interesting and what really separates the good from the great players. Would have been interesting to testing some mettle rather then just accepting an easy outcome.

Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.
ghug (5068 D(B))
28 Aug 16 UTC
Berlin wasn't breakable. Munich was ours. Tunis and St.P were both France's, and Kiel if he wanted it. The only thing that could have given France the solo was another unforced error, he elected to keep the Italian alive, and none of the rest of us were removable. It was over. France going for it at all was an attempt to test our mettle, but we passed even in spite of my little mistake.

I quite enjoy the twilight.

VI needs to brush up on stalemate theory before commenting. That is not a 15% win. That is a zero percent barring NMRs.
VillageIdiot (7813 D)

How do you figure it's 0%? They would definitely take Tunisia and Stp and be able to clear out Baltic and GoB allowing for some more cracks to pick at. Creativity and human bad judgement could even open up Pied for knocking once France got into Tyr Sea and could then tap Tyr and Tus and support himself in after sending a fleet around, and so on. That's not even really factoring in the human and diplomacy element of this game.

I've seen MUCH steeper odds then this still end up in definitive solos. Anybody who allows game theory to dictate their wins and loss chances probably doesn't solo all that often. Probably headed to a stalemate is not a stalemate.

Hi. Is there something wrong with the Quebec spawns in this map? I'm trying to create a unit on certain centers that doesn't have a enemy move on them, but it wont let me. I can never spawn a unit on greenland for example.
