Scottish MP on trial for lying
Here's a fascinating case. A Member of Parliament actually being taken to court for lying - and in his defence, admitting that he lied, but arguing that's just something politicians do, so he shouldn't be held to account for it.

Playing in the same game with a friend
Is it allowed for me to specifically join a game together with my friend(s), so we can work together and easily dominate a game? It's technically not multying yet I thought there was something against it in the rules.. Can't find it anymore though.

Facts based discussion on climate change
Nobody denies that the earth changes. Mountains form with shifting plate tectonics. We had an Ice Age, and then the Ice Age went away. All without man on the earth. Yes, climate changes. Let’s have a facts based discussion on climate change.

I hope you're a more convincing liar than this in your diplomacy games, boy :p.

Top tip, when it becomes obvious that you're been talking out of your arse about something you don't really know about, the best thing to do is to stop. Don't make things worse for yourself by digging the hole deeper. "Should be clear from the report" indeed :p. Have you even read the summary, or simply stuck to the pretty pictures reprinted on various websites?

A final quote that is as relevant as it is true:

"All models are wrong"

source: CRC (2004) Series on Model Choice Number 1: General approaches to modelling and practical issues of model choice, Cooperative Research Centre
boylee (2103 D)

I pride myself for being a very good liar :P

I confess, I didn't read the report thoroughly, but based on the sections I did read, and your summary on it, it seemed pretty obvious for me. I shall read it in the evening to confirm that.

Note that your quote ends with "...but some are useful".

YoYo - "If I really wanted him to join the First Church of Climate Change, I'd just brainwash him into thinking that he's worthless and that some higher entity is responsible for everything good that's undeservingly happened to him. Just like 90% of other religions."

Another 'facts based' response to the myth of man-caused climate change. Pathetic.

@Yoyo: BaldOldGuy has previously said that Donald Trump is the best hope for America amongst all the currently-running presidential candidates; there's really no point arguing with that kind of thinking.

this earth is FLAT!

FLAT, I say!
BaldOldGuy (74 DX)
03 Nov 15 UTC
Change happens. Nobody doubts that. What is unreal is man's impact. Again, the great fact many want to deny - there was an ice age. The ice went away. All without man around. Yes, climate changes. You have to 'prove' man is the cause. All climate change models and predictions are wrong.
BaldOldGuy (74 DX)

wj - I think you misquoted me. I'm actually a Cruz supporter. Cruz - Martinez 2016.

But we digress. Nice distraction.

No one here is saying that humans magically declare climate change and thus the earth is in peril. No one has said we as people are the sole cause. We're saying we have an impact.

@ goldfinger. I was very interested to follow up on your link;

http://wattsupwiththat.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/400000yearslarge1.gif?w=720

I found that it was taken from this article here:

http://wattsupwiththat.com/2012/04/11/does-co2-correlate-with-temperature-history-a-look-at-multiple-timescales-in-the-context-of-the-shakun-et-al-paper/

entitled Does CO2 correlate with temperature history? – A look at multiple timescales in the context of the Shakun et al. paper

It is a well written piece which I recomend to you. It finishes with this:

''Everything from ozone change to volcanoes, human activities, and ocean cycles has a non-zero effect on climate, but much of temperature history fits together well if changes in cosmic rays and solar activity have a major effect on climate. The preceding contrasts with those who would assume CO2 to be the primary climate driver and who, in practice, predominantly simply entirely ignore the effect of cosmic rays (aside from the occasional attempt at rebuttal to justify continuing to ignore them), acting as if solar activity variation only mattered for direct irradiance alone.

However, claims about massive forcing from CO2 variation have always been based not on its direct observed spectral effect but upon hypothetical major net positive feedback from water vapor vastly amplifying CO2’s small direct effect. Evidence supports rather a climate system with low climate sensitivity, with predominantly negative feedback.''

Change does not happen. The earth has been in exactly the same state since Gawd created it 6,000 years ago. The concept of the ice age was made up by muslims and protestants. There has never been a so-called "ice age".

On religion and climate change, for a bit of trolling fun, how about this?

http://wattsupwiththat.com/2015/08/26/the-cult-of-climate-change-nee-global-warming/

It lists several cult attributes. my favourite is this:

5) The climate change cult appears to worship the computer models that its shamans built with their own hands — literally man-made idols. Needless to say, much of the content of IPCC’s texts comes from these computer models.[3]

@bog: as long as you fail to read whole posts and just quote single lines without engaging with the rest, i can't believe that you're interested in a fact based discussion. i asked you a very clear question, yet chose to address a comment i made that is only partially related. congrats.
kasimax (243 D)
03 Nov 15 UTC
also: "All climate change models and predictions are wrong."

there are very many models and predictions out there. are you seriously suggesting that *every single one* of them is wrong?
BaldOldGuy (74 DX)
03 Nov 15 UTC
kas - I answered the question you asked. You asked if gravity was caused by a force pushing things down. A silly strawman devoid of facts, but I answered it.
BaldOldGuy (74 DX)
03 Nov 15 UTC
kas "are you seriously suggesting that *every single one* of them is wrong?" Point to the ONE that is correct. Yes. All the models are wrong. They are only 'correct' in the mind of true believers.
BaldOldGuy (74 DX)
03 Nov 15 UTC
YoYo "O Ice Age. U meen lik dee moovie?" if you can't have an intelligent discussion, talk like an idiot. Ha Ha Ha. You are brilliant.
BaldOldGuy (74 DX)
03 Nov 15 UTC
wj "^^ I don't need proof. (I don't want proof). I have faith." Finally, an honest answer.
kasimax (243 D)
03 Nov 15 UTC
actually, my question was: "but you seem to know more about climate change than a vast majority of climate scientists. that must have a reason, right?"
BaldOldGuy (74 DX)
03 Nov 15 UTC
TrP"No one here is saying that humans magically declare climate change and thus the earth is in peril. No one has said we as people are the sole cause. We're saying we have an impact." Seriously? Read Algore's " Earth in the Balance"
BaldOldGuy (74 DX)
03 Nov 15 UTC
TrP And if we have an impact, quantify it. Is the impact making things warmer or cooler? Does more CO2 make the earth better? It could lead to more plants.

But seriously, what is the 'ideal' climate for the earth? The ice ages show that the earth changes. There is no ideal state. The earth is constantly changing. Climate change is the only constant.

Why the college football Playoff committee should be fired
Biggest cause for concern I have in year 2 of this so called "system" is that for the first 4 weeks of these people sitting down to rank everyone they come up with even worse logic than the coaches and AP polls.
I realize you cant get everything right all the time, but this years first ranking feels more like a house of cards just begging to be knocked down.
